A loud opening and a glint of a shiny blade could be one way to scare off an intruder. A buddy of mine had a prowler outside his home so he got out his 9mm. It was dead silent until he pulled back the slide and chambered a round. He then heard footsteps quickly running away.

Woodard Fer De Lance is a loud whacker. I had a Kershaw linerlock that went *klongggg* ever time I opened it. The liner vibrated like crazy.

definitely a big spanish navaja. A 15" ratcheting folder with 5 teeths has a big resonance body and was ment to scare the opponents It works!

It seems like the loudest one I have is my micarta Spyderco Calypso Jr.

The micarta seems to echo the "snap" moreso than the FRN.
