Love 1 woman & 40 knives… My collection of knives just got even more attractive (I think)

This is my collection of knives. I do not cut anything with these (these are my babies, I keep them sharp and shining!) and only recently started carrying my second ColdSteel SR1 the pocket tank for its supreme durability and thick S35VN blade.

All of the knives in the pictures are for collection & display purposes to amaze my guests and friends and introduce them to the fun world of knives & blades & knife collecting.

Any suggestions and recommendations on how to keep these babies shining and fine? Which oils should I use for long-term storage? Or thin mineral and gun oils are just fine? Should I keep them open or folded while storing?

Thank you!

Not sure what the title has to do with the content of the post, but, to address your question, mineral oil should be fine. I personally prefer Marine Tuff-Glide just because I’m paranoid about corrosion and I’m a sucker for terms like “surface-bonding” and won’t bother to investigate how accurate that is.

Open vs closed is just a matter of practicality for you. If you want to put them in a case, I would say open. If you’re packing them up, closed. Some people prefer to store autos open because of concerns about the prolonged tension on the spring.

Also, that’s a pretty comprehensive collection. It covers a very broad scope of types of folding knives and does a good job of conveying the seemingly infinite possible shapes that a folding sharp thing can be.

Thank you. Sorry for the confusing topic name. Can I apply Marine Tuff-Glide after using mineral oil as a second layer? I have not tried that yet. Do you recommend keep knives open or stored? I have heard storing them is ok as long as it is not wrapped in plastic or foam, paper is OK.

One more knife I will add to my collection is Chris Reeve large Serbenza and then I think I will be done (for a while).

Thank you. I will check online stores for the Marine Tuff-Glide

A second layer of mineral oil would be redundant. I would use tuff-glide first and then call it quits; it’s good enough to keep carbon steels and M4 from developing even a patina while spending all day in my pocket in swampy Oklahoma summer humidity.

It’s pretty good stuff. I don’t have many points of reference to compare it to other products, though, so I can’t tell you what is potentially the best option. I stopped my search with tuff-glide because it did everything I wanted it to do.

In c3 is that a 740? The Benchmade 745 is one of my favorite edc knives, don’t see them much anymore. Love the bob lum designs.

Nice collection, but kind of sad that they aren't being used, most of those knives were definitely designed for it. If you get a sebenza, you really should use it, especially if you are just getting a regular or inlay version.

What's the first spyderco in column one?

Nice rounded collection. Show us your users too. For me, I wouldn't be able to resist dropping each of them in my pockets for a period of time. I've got some that I would consider my "pretty" knives, but most of them have seen some time in pocket. If I'm gonna own it, I want to be able to use it.

It would be a shame not to use some of those! Maybe consider buying a duplicate of some to use like you do the sr1.

I've had good results with sentry solutions tuff cloth as well. I consider tuff glide more of a lubricant.

Another thing to consider is the climate you might store them. During the humid summers here I've had to pay closer attention to carbon steels like a2 or sr101.

I think it's a Tatanka, but due to the angle you can't see the top swedge.

I’m disappointed. I thought this was going to be a better version of the knives on my cat thread.

Aren’t most of them stainless? No need to oil them if stainless.

I agree with the others that say to use them. You need to consummate the relationship with some of those. It’s like having a harem and never..........

Took me lots of time and $$$ to collect these... I used ColdSteel SR1 but these I just can't, they are way too sexy & valuable, awesome toys.

That one is Spyderco Tatanka with 5 inch VG10 blade.

Awesome collection. I really dig the s110v Millie. Can’t imagine not using any of them though

They are like my children, love playing with them and looking at them, talking about them with friends... I just can not use them. Get very upset even when someone touches the blade incorrectly or with sweaty hands... I use my duplicate ColdSteel SR1, it's a beast it does everything I need, I abuse it like hell and it's fine.

LOL :-) "It’s like having a harem and never.........." best comparison ever. Thank you!

I do have a second ColdSteel SR1 and use it and abuse it. The rest are just too damn sexy and expensive (did not come cheap getting these some very rare pieces_ ) knives to use. I just enjoy looking at them like women enjoy looking at flowers. Just way too attached to these knives...

Lol. They give you enjoyment that’s all that matters. Like bflyer said We need to see your users now.

I use almost every knife I own. Except this one. So I get were you are coming from. I did have to buy one like it to use though.
