Who is using a code 4 at -40 degrees? I feel like Alaskan/Canadian fur trappers are a minority of knife user makeup and probably catch on real quick that aluminum is a bad choice. For Slim and trim, Code 4. But the glaring design flaw is at -40 degrees your bare hand gets cold using it due to the all metal make up of the knife. It can't be user "error" can it?![]()
At -40 degrees frostbite will occur very quickly, gloves are a necessity. But yea agreed that there are better scale materials for the extreme cold, of course I don't own only one knife(about 150 now) so I have all seasons covered. Like any tool you should tailor it for the job.For Slim and trim, Code 4. But the glaring design flaw is at -40 degrees your bare hand gets cold using it due to the all metal make up of the knife. I operate in temperatures of 18 degrees to 105 degrees for the entire year. I guess what I’m saying is most people don’t need to make knife choices around the thermal conductivity of the metal in their knives.. at least not to the extent some would have us believe. At -40 degrees frostbite will occur very quickly, gloves are a necessity. Pretty sweet knife, right? I especially like the little piece of aluminum down at the butt for doing things like cracking walnuts or smashing the skulls of terrorists.I folded to the pressure. My AD-10 arrived today.
The AK-47 and American Lawman knives are practically cousins of the Recon 1. All three are fine knives. Unfortunately, I’ve yet to pick up an American Lawman.Hey Bf I’ve purchased my first Cold steel and I’m really loving the recon 1 great size materials action for the price. I’ve noticed that hardly anyone posts a cold steel on the for sale section that’s got to say something about them. Anyway this knife has really got me wanting to dive deeper into the world of CS. Anybody have any suggestions on which couple of knives I should purchase next? Thanks for your time have a good urn, I’m all ears.
If they offered the AL with an uncoated blade I would definitely get one.The AK-47 and American Lawman knives are practically cousins of the Recon 1. All three are fine knives. Unfortunately, I’ve yet to pick up an American Lawman.
Oh yeah. DLC is nice, but a well-maintained S35VN should have no problems with rust resistance. If they offered the AL with an uncoated blade I would definitely get one.
