My wife has zero interest in knives. I gave my son a Victorinox Swisschamp that he likes and an Alox Electrician when he got his apprenticeship. Other than that he's not really big into knives.
My fiancé has Victorinox solo with celluloid handles. I bought it couple of years ago. She loves pink so I decide to get her smooth pink bone Buck Canoe or other traditional knife (though they're China made and old supply they should be good for the price) or Rough Rider pink bone knife.
The first Christmas we were together I gave my wife a Leatherman Flair (you know the one with the cocktail fork and bottle opener). She loves it, keeps it in the glove box of her car.
I buy my wife a Vic Classic every so often. She tends to misplace her keys, or the kids swipe the knife off her keychain. Currently she's carrying a Pink classic with half a handle missing, and no toothpic, or tweezers. Yeah, I know. I need to replace the thing.
My brothers lose the knives I buy them, so I've stopped. They carry whatever they can find, usually a cheap chinese knife.
One of these days I'm going to make them learn to appreciate a good blade.
I got this for my wife a couple years ago.It probably looks exactly the same as the pic .I've only seen her use it once. She keeps it in a pouch in her purse.
She's not a knife-gal at all.I could tell by the disappointing look(masked with a smile) on her face when she unwrapped it.
I've given my girlfriend a buck bucklite 3" folder and a pink alox victorinox classic SD. Now she wants a spyderco bug, and she bought me a kershaw blur, she loves that knife also. I gave my mom a victorinox classic, my brother a swisschamp and my dad a leatherman supertool to replace the one he had stolen.
My girlfriend prefers purple, so it's a bit harder to find a knife she likes. Her collection currently consists of:
-Purple Ladybug
-Purple bone Case Peanut
-Purple Vic Classic
-Purple Wegner w/nail clipper
-Purple Spyderco Forum Native
-Boker Wharcom
-Leatherman Juice XE6
Out of all of those, she carries the Native the most. I bought her the Leatherman because I got tired of her trying to use her knife blade as a screwdriver. So far it seems to have worked.
I've given my wife a Wenger SAK of some sort which is in the bottom of her purse somewhere and never comes out.:grumpy:
My daughter is only four, but when she is old enough I'll take her to the local outfitter store (which she loves to visit) and let her pick out her own SAK. Either that or I will give her my firs SAK (a Huntsman) which I have had since I was a kid. I think SAKs are perfect for unknifely folks.
I have given my dad a Gerber multitool years ago and a Case Texas jack more recently, both of which he cherishes, I am pleased to say.
well out of my immediate family only my father and i carry knives.
he carries a BM grip that i got him for fathers day, a SAK swiss champ, spyderco delica 3 SE, gerber mini paraframe 2, and his fathers buck 301 stockman
extended family that i know to carry knives would be my uncle that carries a small sebenza, i was pretty surprised to see him take it out , and two of my cousins carry CRKT M16's.
