Loveless Bolts - What say you? Like them, love them, hate them and why?

Your loveless bolts look pretty nice here, to my eye.

However, respectfully in regards to this 👇
...Sometimes with the lack of precision, they look wonky eyed. I actually like it. I hope my knives are warm and have soul. Definitely not sterile and cold.

I wish you could find a way to re-phrase things like this. It reads like "imperfect" is a hallmark of handmade with soul and warmth BECAUSE of the presence of flaws. Where as someone who takes great care to get things as perfect as possible to minimize visible flaws makes those knives "sterile and cold".

1. That's your opinion, and its probably a minority one.

2. It doesn't have to be an either/or situation.

Thanks for the compliment, obviously Your work is top notch and I appreciate what you bring to the forums.

I'm sure you noticed I'm a bit difficult to manage.
:) I like to poke/push.
*I don't think I have, Here?
I like my threaded fasteners. That's ok.

Let me rephrase for practical purposes.
Another reason I like using the fasteners that I do. Other than phenomenal holding power.

I'm still developing my styles. You could say still learning. Many years ago I had drawing instructor tell me we should spend more time looking at the vase of flowers (or whatever) More than actually drawing them. She meant to notice those details.

Again, since I am constantly learning. (I hope we All are)....Well, I spend an enormous amount of time just holding the knife. I put way too much time and effort into my work. I just sometimes don't accomplish Anything. I just hold them. Too long. Im slow.

I know it's something that will improve with my experience, doing more.....but, I'll shape and sand my handles sometimes, Many times. I'll think I'm finished. I'll sand, make it look nice.(What I think looks nice) Add finish.... Then holding it the next day, again....and I want to sculpt a little more here or there. Just a touch. More sanding. Seeking what feels like perfection.

Anyhow, my fastener style allows me more freedom for depth. I'm not limited to take off another .020" or whatever. I'm not going to create a void from the female portion of the corby. I can actually make the handle feel right, and not worry about ruining the whole thing.

Where the front, middle, and end of the handle technically need possible different depths. I don't have to worry about that with my fasteners. I can just sculpt and shape. Until I'm happy.

I see that as a helpful feature in my process.

I'm in an engineering/manufacturing field. I like metal, nuts and bolts. I'm kinda eclectic. performance is what I want. That and comfort and good carry.

This whole discussion is good and an eye opener.

I've been thinking about guards, pommels, bolsters, etc....playing and adding some. I know I will be shamed by some as I want to use aluminum, stainless, brass, bronze, and more.
I don't see why aluminum should be shamed?
I'll still do it....for me/mine. Kinda see my knife making as only for myself anyhow. I love just making them. And will keep doing it when nobody wants my work.

*Not calling You out. I know we have bumped heads in the past with how I talk.... But I respect your work and efforts. You make excellent knives. I like them a lot. I hope we are good?

I just don't talk myself up, or say things the right way. "marketability" isn't Me. I know I rub people the wrong way often. I'm too opinionated. Wife says I'm an A-H....

I didn't mean Wonky as bad or flawed so much. I definitely don't see my knives as Lazy as others could suggest.

My favorite jacket I have is my grandfather's. Probably from the 40's, idk maybe earlier? It's thick corduroy has leather elbow patches. It's old. Has mismatched buttons sewed on. (I dream of carving wooden or micarta buttons on it). My wife hates that coat. Yet I love it, it's warm in an indescribable way. -Looks wise, to me.

That's kinda the aesthetic I strive for.

-again I'm not good with words, I know I probably sound like a bum.

Here is what I'm working on today, Still shaping my handles. Not done. Not finished sanded yet. Hand made, less wonky fasteners.

Bad with words.... Many tangents, and unstrung thoughts....Thanks.
