I sell a lot of O-1 tool steel knives - it's a great steel and the satin finish I put on my knives makes it easy to keep it looking new with 600 grit sandpaper if you should decide to use it. Randall knives has a six year waiting period for their knives and they use O-1. Here's a Loveless style dropped hunter I made out of 5/32" O-1 tool steel, 4" hollow ground blade, 8.25" OAL, beautiful spalted maple scales, thin red liners on tapered tang, brass guard and Loveless rivets, SS thong tube.
