I've been toying with idea for a while( loveless handle and a fowler blade)and finally decided to get a prototype made this is just the first Prototype to get my feet wet.
I'm trying to come up with a classy name for it but here are some quick pic's

I'm really happy with how these knives are coming, looking forward to what the year has to bring.
DR....

I like the basic idea. What is the handle material? I would prefer to see pins that are more up to date in look as what is done today need not look like it was done in the '60's/70's. Always nice to see new interpretations of previous ideas by other makers over the past 40-50 years.

Lovely lines, with or without the blade recurve!

Looking forward to seeing the "production" models for sale after this gorgeous prototype!

I disagree, I like the vintage Loveless look in using the corby bolts. It might look very unspecific without. Looks nice!

Really cool, really like the style with the elements of both. Maybe give it the name of Whisper (stupid maybe) since it has elements of both makers from the past. Or maybe Shadow since it has reminders from the past. Just my two cents.

Thanks for all the comments guys, I'm still refining this one but I'm liking how it's coming along.

The pins are still up in the air. This was mainly to get a feel for the overall size and feel. I like the loveless bolts but I like allot of the other

options to I may and up change the hole pin set up and look(I just like knives in general;)) The finished design will definitely be a tapered tang

(this one isn't). 52100 is definitely the steel for this one(wouldn't be part Fowler without it and it's a great steel). As for the long ricasso I don't know

how many have actually used one but that design feature is actually really nice in use, it allows you to choke up on the knife very easily and comfortably

and there's nothing to hang up on, simple and effective that's why he uses it (and again it wouldn't be a fowler combo without it). Steel thickness is

still a bit in the works, this one is 1/8" thick and I like the thickness of it(not overly think but still very sturdy but I might bump it up to 5/32"). Flat grind

is what I want on this- Not how Ed would do but I prefer it at this time, some might have a convex and maybe price grind.

The handle material on this one is actually pine knot that I had Stabilized By K&G it was a bit of a experiment and I'm kinda liking it(the stabilizing really makes it a great handle material)

It's allot of fun working out a new design!

Thanks again Gentlemen!

I really like the looks of this knife. Cool fusion, but irregardless of one's knowledge of said fusion, it all comes together nicely, imo.

The only thing that doesn't look quite right to me is the placement of the lanyard hole. Personally, I'm not sure if this pattern needs that feature at all, what with that fat butt, but if it does my personal preference is to have it nearer to the centerline of the handle.
Neat work!

Thanks Lorian! I love your design work, you have a really good "feel" for a knife! I agree that the design wouldn't need a lanyard tube, I guess I put it in there mainly because all of the loveless drop point hunters I have seen had that feature, but maybe I should re-think it?

I'm thinking that the pins should at least be smaller on this.

personally, I don't dislike the pins. Might be cool to use brass and steel for them, instead of just steel, for consistency's sake.

LOL! yes I should do that, I was going to but I had a brain fart when gluing this up and used the wrong bolts. and I decided it was a prototype anyway;)

That is a neat little knife - looks better than I would have imagined given the divergent styles. Strongly agree with Murray on the pins. And the number of occasions where I have thought brass fittings looked cool on a knife is somewhere close to zero.

Have to echo everyone else's compliments. I really like it...even the ricasso, which I'm usually not a fan of.

I actually like the lanyard placement, but I am curious as to some of the other comments what different pins might look like.

I like it. A stainless guard and a little different pins would be a plus for me
