I think the New York Special is a fine self defense knife for a wife or daughter. The sheath fits nicely in a purse or back pocket and the knife is easily removed with a flick of the snap. The handle lends itself to a smaller hand and there's immediate use with no messing around with thumb studs or assists. I made this true to form to the original seven New York Specials made by Loveless with this type sheath and the snap retention which he abandoned on later models. I hope you like it!
