Loveless Web Site

HI Don,

Thanks for joining us, and thanks for keeping your head level. I agree it IS a perfectly legitimate question. It got a bit sidetracked and chuckled over when the third respondent (Tom Mayo, who is a respected knifemaker) laughed at the concept.

Those of us who have discussed Bob Loveless and his works and ways over the years hear all 'got' that joke, but for you, it came over a bit rude. I see that.

I'll bet that a 'tribute' site to Bob Loveless is NOT out of the question. The notion that he would monitor anything is what gave such a snort to the old guard here. (Myself included :))

Anyway I look forward to more of your posts and questions.

Waco Kid, Thanks for keeping us on our toes and having the sensibility to pull back when you may have jumped the start. Thanks.

STeven (Kohai99) is an acquired taste for a newbie. ;) He is a rich source of knowlege if you can handle the crusty truth.

Thanks to all.

Don, you are going to run into mulitple types of personalities around Bladeforums. There will be times when you get responses to questions, where you feel those responses are rude or uncalled for. What you have to do is roll with the punches. After you have been around here for awhile you will learn the posting style of regulars.

Unlike Ghandi and Einstein, Bob Loveless is not famous outside of a select group of people. It is unlikely that someone is going to start a website dedicated to his life and accomplishments. Bob humself seems to feel that it would not be of any benefit for him to personally be on the internet. This is not out of the norm for old time makers like Bob.

Mike Lovett is very knowledgeable about Mr. Loveless, and is a good friend of his. You might want to contact him with any questions that you have.

Welcome to Bladeforums, and I hope you enjoy your time here.

Keith:
Thank you for your welcome. I haven't talked to Mike Lovett by phone yet, but have exchanged emails the last several days. I have ordered a City Knife from Mike. He seems like a great guy, from what I have seem his work is well respected and his little City Knife is the prettiest small knife I have ever seen. I plan to use it for everyday carry in my back pocket in a flat wallet type sheath. I can't wait to see it!

Don

OK, My Wife and I are both sitting here and Cracking up!!! But not at your Waco, or You Don! It's the thought of Bob hunkered over a key board and cussing like hell over trying the get the damed thing to work! The mental pic of it is outrageous. I can just see it now, Cuss-kick-stomp, and out comes the .45! BLAM! Piece of crap. Jim, haven't we got some knives to make, I haven't got time for this crap! Another day with Bob!!! And Jim in the back ground, sighing, Well there goes another 2 grand! I wish he would stop that!!! Shakes his head, and goes back to grinding. Gotta Love-It . Hey Waco, You in Waco? Ted Nugent and I went Whack-o in Waco a few years back. I live just 50 miles south of there. Mike Lovett Here is the Link to Knife Legends. Has a lot of really nice Loveless, and some Fair Lovetts as well. Check out the Featured Artist section while your there. http://knifelegends.com/

Mike:
Thanks for the knife legends link; great stuff. In looking at your knives I see what you were saying the other about green micarta; it just looks right. I enjoyed reading your profile as well. A couple of questions on your City Knife. Is this design one of Mr. Loveless' pattens or is this design all yours? Also, I can't tell from the pic on your web page; does the City Knife have a tapered tang?

Don

Yes Don, it is Bob's design. He came up with this design for his Japanese Customers. They really aren't allowed to carry a stright Knife, so he came up with this neet little knife that could be carried in the front pocket, on observed. The same concept for the NY Special here in this Country. The tang is very tapered, and the bolsters are one piece. A very stout, and compact package. Extremely Elegant! I am playing with an Integtal version of this. If it goes over anything like the Integral Stiff Horn, It will be a "BIG" winner! Mike and Manuela

This is a shot of the Full Integral Stiff Horn. I think the city Knife would be a natural in this configuration. Mike
