Lovers and Haters of the Benchmade 940

I've had a 943 for about 4 years. I absolutely love it. When the omega springs broke last year, I couldn't bear to send it off to Benchmade, so I made springs out of guitar wire.

I recently picked up a 940. I was reluctant to like it at first, I hated the green, but its been growing on me. I love the blade shape.

Of the two, the 943 is definitely the better slicer by far.

i just got the 940 today, and carrying it around i love it.

however, i do wish i could do something different with the scales, great design but not a fan of the green anodized. i might get some custom cf or ti scales in the same design if possible, and a lower profile ti pocket clip

other than that, its been shaving arm hair all day :D

I really like mine. It's a 'little big knife' if you know what I mean. It's a nice slim gentleman's knife that is still very capable and the long slim blade is very useful. I have it set up for weak side carry in the office and usually have it with me 3-4 days a week, occasionally opting for a G-10 Delica carried in the same position instead.

I have given some thought to picking up a 943 and then selling the one I like least.

my d2 version came slightly off center even after messing with the pivot but it doesn't rub the sides so im ok with it cause it still does work

I love my 940. While I have both a large and small Sebenza classics the 940 has made my small Seb a drawer queen. Love everything about the 940 and just wonder why I went so long without owning one.

That is awesome ... Your 940th post was about the BM 940 !

The 940/943 is a nice well made knife. I have had several of them but did not keep them. Just didn't do it for me. I am more of a Grip 556 and a BM 707 type. If you think the blade grind is too thick, thin it out.

I've had 3 BM 940's - now only one but it's so cool, from it's deceptively long & thick reverse tanto blade, lightning fast deployment, right down to it's iridescent pink/purple ti strips in the back of the handle. :D

I picked up a 940 154cm beater at the flea market for $5.00 bucks a few weeks back. Great little big knife, and once I got the edge back on it, (last owner did a really bad convex on it) it slices with the best of them. Rides in my in my shirt between 3rd and 4th button for quick access when I'm driving.

I bought a 940 several weeks ago. I dig it. Its major selling point for me its longish blade relative to its scale size and weight. In other words, a good utility to weight ratio. The chalky aluminum texture is a nice change of pace from FRN and G10, and its thin and light in the pocket. Flicks open easily.

The only downsides, I think, are that it feels just a little flimsy - but thats what you get with a long, light weight blade, and it sits just a little high in the pocket. But overall its a thumbs up. I do wish that these Benchmade knives had names instead of numbers for easy remembery, but thats no biggy.

The limited D2 came with a blue strip of TI was a nice surprise since im not the biggest fan of purple

I would opt for the 940 over the 943 if they had it in a black handle when I was deciding between the two, the 943 has a weaker tip but in all honesty it looks much better then the 940. But, you really can't go wrong with either one
