so what do you compare it to Jimmy???

great meeting ya brother

I had piles of these things and gave them all away...they did nothing for me until Jerry offered them for $227 each, I almost got back in at that point.
I just can't believe people are buying them from Flippers at $375 when they can be had at the next Ganza by the case?!
A fool and his money...Oh, never mind!

Great pics. I've got the same one coming to me from Blade. Can't wait to get it in my hands.

You know, some times people don't want to wait.

There have been several times where I have grossly overpaid for items in the name of convenience. I'm sure I'll do it many more times.

Flippers provide that service and it's not entirely without risk.

As a business it's pretty stupid, the margin is too low.

A newbie might get burned thinking his only chance was to pay the price but that's their fault for not doing some research before they say "I'll take it".

It's in Steel Heart territory (SH or E), the convex edge really screams.

The wood was real hard. It went faster going from one side, it wants to slice deeply more than 'chop'.

edited to add......

Great meeting you too !

THAT, is my point! I can remember when being a HOG ment watching out for one another instead of slipping one a pickle.
There are many on here now that are "Hog" only in name, and that is a real shame.

I have paid more for something I wanted, but not $150 a few days after it was released and was still being sold.

Hogs stick together

Good looking blade Jimmy!

Flip shmip, I shake my head every time some of this stuff comes up. If I don't think a price is fair I don't pay it. I sure wouldn't feel it was my business to voice my opinion in a guys sale thread though. Everyone has to go on their own. If a guy sits on a blade because the buyers on the exchange think it is priced to high he has too options as I see it. Drop the price or stick it back in his stash. Do any of us know for sure that these will be available in a ganza in a week? Given the history of the Busse crew I would bet you are looking at the better part of a month before you see a post Blade show ganza. Then is there any guarantee you will see the color combination you desire, not hardly. Hey do you think the guy who made the trip to the show shouldn't mark up to cover some of his fuel and hotel stay? Just trying to point out how things are always as black and white as they first appear.

I don't have a haorse in this race, I didn't get lucky enough to go to Atlanta or have someone grab one of these for me. I just think it is pretty dumb to stick your nose where it doesn't belong, but some folks don't have anything better to do I guess. He3ck 1 whobuys, if you had piles of these and your were concerned about folks getting gouged, maybe you could have bought them and then brought them back and sold them at cost to foil these guys making a profit. That would be a very selfless thing to do, but quite costly I imagine. I get where you are coming from, but you come off too strong sometimes.

My question is when were they $227.00 and was that for one knife or multiples? Late Saturday they were $287.00 + 6% sales tax.:confused:
Pigletplucker

The coated ones were $287 plus tax and as far as I remember they were not subject to any quantity deal like the competition finished ones were. As I recall the comp finish was $267 for one, it you bought two the second was $247 and a third+ would cost you $227. That might have only been for the Hell Razor and the Jack Hammer though. I know Jerry did a run where if you bought more than one they were all one price. Someone with a better memory or their receipt can be more specific, but there was no such special pricing on the coated blades. All the black ones were gone the first day of the show, the sage ones might have lingered a bit longer and I have no idea how many of the competition finished ones they went through or how many they might have taken home.

Chickenplucker, sorry the thread looks to have gotten off course. How much effort was required for that one? With that convex zero edge and the heft of the blade, I was hoping it would be a fair to good all around chopper. I need to make some time to take mine out back and have a whack at some stuff.

they were 287, 2nd for 267, 3rd for 247, and 6 for 227, best as I recollect

Looks like the combat grades and the comp finish were the same price, 287.

The JH was 267 for one, 2nd was 247.

On Saturday, Jerry announced quantity pricing. If you bought six, one of them was $227 I think. It was great for a guy proxying for a bunch of people, he would end up with a really cheap knife if he collected $287 each for the other five. For a flipper it wouldn't have been a big discount when it's averaged out.

Any way, a hog would know better or else come up with the cash for the convenience. As for newbies and IThogs, I'm a little jaded from a few who have been trying to really low ball me in the exchange and a friend of a friend that I tried to give a really great deal to (twice) but he didn't take it.

All they have to do is search a little or ask a question and then they can decide for them self.

I know that the lessons I learned best were the ones I learned the hard way, I don't see why we can't give people that chance.

Actually, I think the $227 price was a mix up between the Busse group and someone in the crowd yelling that price out. $287 for one, 2 for $267 each and 3 or more was $247 each.

Thanks for the weight info mapper66 and Eric. It is definatly heavier than the skinny ASH then.

A little heavier. I haven't handled one yet but I really like the skinny ASH I own. I like the blade profile and grind on the Squatch so the extra weight is negligible for me as it is a decent trade off. As to the side topic on this thread, I think it is the buyer's responsibility to decide what is reasonable and to research the value of a Busse blade. Now that could always inlcude opening it up to some Q & A by opening a thread in the Busse forum or hitting up a more seasoned hog via PM or e-mail. Heck, old and new threads (when you can find them) and stickies on how to buy a Busse and model releases help a bunch too. Blade is a different beast and the ganza to follow isn't always known to new Ithogs much like the availability of certain knives released at Blade or discussed in threads prior to release. It also, provides a frenzy for some to immediately secure a piece without concern of slightly or even grossly over paying. Either way it's still the buyers responsibility to inquire and investigate this stuff and make as much of an informed decision as to whether they will purchase a knife with an immediate mark up upon release or not. I don't think it is bad to tell people that there may be a Ganza with this stuff offered but maybe some better way of doing it like opening up a seperate thread or discussing it in this one. I've seen blades I've sold get marked up by 30-50 dollars or more in an instant resale. It bothered me at first but then I figured hey if that guy can get that amount for that blade good for him. I only ask what I think is fair for a knife and what can help move it quickly if I need to move it quickly. When some of the lurkers are done surfing the auction sites and want a model seen in a new thread like the Squatch they'll ask or keep reading and keep lurking until they figure out how it all works. My .02 any way. Hogwash, sorry I didn't get back to you earlier.
