Low profile self defence folder

couldn't a prosecutor say that you were trained in deadly fighting tactics and were probably out looking for trouble?

It this hasn't happened already, it probably will. It is well known that liberal prosecutors and lawyers try to turn the tables on intended victims who successfully defend themselves, buy claiming that the person was looking for trouble. Carrying a weapon or otherwise being prepared for self-defense is offered as "evidence" that the intended victim was looking for a fight.

There is has been discussion in other threads about whether or not we are giving in to these people by disguising our efforts to be prepared for self-defense. If someone feels strongly that they should not on principle hide their preparations for self-defense, I won't argue against that view.

However, I personally don't think there is anything wrong with using whatever tactics one can to defeat the liberals' efforts to rob us of our God-given right of self-defense. I have a very low opinion of such people, and I guess I just don't feel they deserve an fair and open fight.

I have a similar problem since I need a knife that could be considered "tactical" that won't raise any eyebrows in a school. Really I was also looking for a "starter" folder before I got a nice one. At the advice of lots of forum goers here I looked into Sydercos. My answer was the Spyderco Endura, which I can slide into my front pocket with not much more than an unassuming metal clip.

I normally don't like knives with a hole but the ergonomics are so good on the Endura I don't even notice it.

Seriously, if you have thick hands like I do, it's just a matter of ergonomics between the Endura and the Delica. I have large hands else I would probably carry the Delica for maximum subtlety. The Endura fits my hand better but that wouldn't be the case for a lot of ppl imho... also, from a distance the bigger blades look smaller when they're in my hand unless there's something else in my other hand to give them a sense of proportion. I carry another knife for mundane things and leave the Spyderco in the pocket.

I'm happy to say the Endura "passed the test" when another teacher saw the clip and asked what it was, and didn't freak out when I showed her.

Another neat thing about these models is that both have "trainers", which I need badly :D

Over here, even a knife's name can be the cause of a prosecution. The AFCK is sold here as the Advanced Folding Camping Knife.

Here is a link to the relevant piece of legislative idiocy. Extract below:

1. - (1) A person is guilty of an offence if he markets a knife in a way which-

(a) indicates, or suggests, that it is suitable for combat; or
(b) is otherwise likely to stimulate or encourage violent behaviour involving the use of the knife as a weapon.

(3) For the purposes of this Act, an indication or suggestion that a knife is suitable for combat may, in particular, be given or made by a name or description-

(a) applied to the knife;
(b) on the knife or on any packaging in which it is contained; or
(c) included in any advertisement which, expressly or by implication, relates to the knife.
