A retired knifemaker told me that he used to use something like this and I was wondering why it is no longer used.

It has the solder premixed with flux and seems very easy to use... even fool proof!

I have some in two different heat ranges, it is a waste of money. Oh wait. You want some? I'll sell it to ya. Cheap

Too much flux and carrier......not enough solder.
I have four tubes somewhere. A distributor sent them to me to test. I used one - it was worthless - and offered to send back the rest. He said he wasn't going to carry them, so I could keep the others. I never used any of them.

What Stacy said, add that the flux bubbles up carrying solder with it before collapsing down to not fill the space it formerly occupied. I got some for soldering a piece where I was attaching 60 bezels to a flat sheet of silver and had so much cleanup work to do that I considered scrapping the piece and starting over

Stacy and Page are right on, I had a tube of it for about 20 years it eventually got lost.
