Lt wright any good?

i have a pro-tac, from ksf that i love. it's in d2, but i have noticed zero chipping, and it takes a lovely sharp edge. i do tend to sharpen lightly or strop after i use most any of my knives,so i don't know if that helps or not. the sheaths l.t. wright uses are top of the line as well. my model has a saber grind , so that aspect isn't a fair comparison; that being said it cuts like a bigger knife. if i hadn't gotten the pro-tac the genesis would've been my next choice. what handle material are you looking at? he does have some nice choices.

well he regularly does at least 3 or 4 colors, smooth,bead-blasted and mountain micarta:) good luck and check his dealers listing as well as used. some of his prices are surprisingly low.

Dont have a genesis but I do have a Maverick Colt

I would stand behind any time keeps a great edge with a strop every now and then

yes the heat treat seems almost as good as my dozier in d2. the grind on my pro-tac was obviously done by a right handed individual-meaning that there is a very minor difference in the grind from side to side as viewed from the bottom(the cutting edge). they are definitely hand made and ground. no chipping on my d2 blade also indicates good heat treat. sorry if i wasn't clear before.

Looking at a genesis full flat grind in a2 any good? How are their heat treat?

We have heard lots of great feed back on the Genesis. There are also lots of Youtube videos reviewing the knives and showing them being used. Seems like a good indication that they are good with regard to heat treat.

I bought a Genesis First Edition Flat Grind in Ironwood at the USAMadeBlade Open House and Grand Opening this past Saturday. L.T. helped me pick the perfect knife from Scott's inventory. I am STOKED! I got home and pulled the knife out. Quite sharp out of the box. I will take her in the woods this weekend as my sole blade, but decided to use her and get a superlative edge in the kitchen this week. I stropped her and the fine edge was screaming sharp. I have cooled 2 large meals using the Genesis and the edge seems to hold up very will. I know the kitchen is not a perfect place to test a bushcraft knife, but you can sure tell how the edge finishes and how the edge will hold up to lots of cutting. I am quite impressed. I have $1000+ custom chefs knives, I also have an elaborate array of custom bushcraft knives from all price ranges... This knife performed better than the price suggests! L.T. must have some great heat treat for A2! This A2 definitely performs WAY better than A2 I have used on any production knife. Buy one!

Good to hear thinking of going with a lt wright knife or two, instead of bark river heard so much about chipping etc with them som lt wright it is then in desember :-D

In a word? Superb. I've owned more handmade custom knives than I can count, a couple of dozen Bark River and Blackjack knives (which are excellent, btw), as well as a whole bunch of factory blades. I've probably spend enough money on knives over the years to buy a new car. My "go to" knife is an LT Wright Genesis in Full Flat Grind. Edge geometry is perfect. Heat treat is perfect. Handle is perfect.

If I am going to really, really abuse a knife, I'll take my Bark River Bravo 1.5, but for actual "knife" work, it's the Genesis every time....
