So I've been looking and have seen that Ina. Stonewash lots of people use wd40. If I used the silicone wd40 would the results change at all? Or the ion infused wd40 grease? Thanks guys!

I'm not sure the vinegar would work for stainless steels but the ferric acid would definitely work to darken the blade.I always have done it as two seperate processes. you need to paint the pivot and lockface with finger nail polish to protect it from the acid . I don't see a way you could do that if you incorperate the two.

If you are stone washing carbon or tool steels, consider Sun Sheen polishing compound from Riogrande.com. Get a gallon of concentrate and you can make close to fifty gallons of the stuff, and it keeps carbon and tool steels from rusting during the stone washing process.
