Well even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while !!:D My wife was talking to her friend at work about my knife making:jerkit: and the friend says Oh Joe tried that too and quit.... SO later that day Joe calls me..Do you want a home made grinder and a crucible he asks..So I go to his house and pick up this stuff.. 30+ belts still in the wrapper. Homemade grinder with a 1.5hp reversable baldor motor (this will be made into a disc grinder later as it tracks like crap) and a brand new crucible..He was going to make his own bronze ?? Seems like a pretty good haul for free, Anyone need a crucible ???:D

Nice haul Louis! I'd try to re-crown the grinder's tracking wheel just to see if it's an easy fix if it was me, but that's just because I hate letting machines beatr me. :)

I might have a use for a crucible if you're serious about getting rid of it.

Glad you found your nut Louis! Maybe save some scratch and throw that motor on a KMG or a Coote. Seems like it would be the right place for it :D -Matt-

Very nice find, i'd have killed for that motor a few months ago when i got my coote. I've got a 1hp baldor now on it though.

Holy Smokes Louis, good grab  Thats a pretty good size crucible, hows a guy use something like that ? I mean what type of heat source is that made to be used with ? Huge kiln ?

Grease-man, Ohhhhhh I've got a 2.5 hp v/s kmg already !!!:D  . As far as the crucible i think he was going to build a big vertical forge with a removable lid that you could drop the crucible into.. I think Stacy Apelt built something similar recently..Decker pm. me maybe we can work out a little trade...BTW there is no re-crowning that wheel as it is a hollow plastic crap wheel...(I wonder if that is why the tracking sucks. :) )

Louis,
Just wrap the idler whell with masking tap and bbuild it into a crown. I use that on my bought machine. If it works it will last on there fot years. No not duck tape. Frank

I found a bunch of pulleys and idler wheels in my grandpas shop and garage. Different shaft sizes too. If you want I can find one to match yours and send it to you. They are all aluminum or steel. I found singles and triples. Give me a call or shoot me an email if you are interested. Also if anyone else is interested in any of these let me know. Nice find man.

Nice score Louis!
You might want to hang on to that crucible. They will be doing a crucible melt at the Ashokan seminar this year!
