Good snag on that BDC, and thank you before I overextended myself.

My pleasure. ;) Of course, I overextended myself a little, but so it goes. I like the taste of ramen. :D

Would have liked that BDC myself.
Wasn't looking forward to ramen for my Super Bowl Party though.
So it looks like Baby Back Ribs and chicken :p
I think I better go buy the grub now just in case a UBBB I like comes up on the weekend.

Good thing is now you'll have something to cut the firewood with too :)

Thanks for the emotional support guys.

But, I didnt get sharked, so the BGRS might still be there. I dont want it any more, as a result of Dan's tempting email...

What happened is that g-mail seems to be down, and yahoo froze up on me. I have pre-typed messages for DotDs, so I posted, thinking that the message to Bill would be sent a few seconds after my post. No such luck. G-mail wont even open, and I just now got yahoo to work.

I think my computer is infested with spyware or viruses. I have half a dozen new toolbars, search engine folders on my desktop, pop up ads on this forum (which has never happened to me before),pop up ads when im not even online, and something that makes the first three results on a google search into ads.

But if you want that BGRS, go for it.

download spybot from download.com

handy for remove those spywares....

Village AK. I got it and it will be my first knife from Uncle Bill. I'm 59 and giddy as a kid.
This is a great site with even greater people!! I'm proud i just bought my first H.I. Knife. I'm sure i"ll have even more in the future. :) :)

Congratulations Sharpetoys. A village AK is a great one to start with.

Actually it's a lifetime knife for a normal person, but soon you will be normal no longer.

Good score, Sharpe. Great first khuk (or is it the first?). Love all the villager models, myself.

Welcome to the club.

Just got it today my 15 inch 22 ounce village Ang khola by Kumar. $60 UBBB.
This is my first and its perfect sharp as shite. I didn't realize these knives were so heavy. :D

Sharpe?

If you look to the Khukuri dynamics sticky at the top of the forum pages, you can see that the weight distribution along the blade makes a huge difference in your sensation of weight of the knife.

The AK has most of it's weight distributed to contribute to the impact of a chop. Others have a more even distribution, as well as different designs to create more of a "equal" balance when they are held.

You will absolutely LOVE the AK.

READ THE SAFETY THREAD, several times.

Be well and safe.

As 15" AKs generally go, 22 oz is one of the lighter ones.
:)

Actually, I think that's right in there as an average for current 15" AK's. I have (all 15 inchers), two 19 oz.; a 20 oz. Silver mtd., a 21 oz., two 22 oz. (one Silver mtd.), a 23 oz. (Chiruwa AK), and a 24 oz. and 25 oz. Both the 24 and 25 ouncers are older Shop 1 khuks. Average of all these is 21.7 oz.

Exclude the Shop 1's and the average drops to 20.9 oz., so he's technically an ounce more than "average." ;)

Regards,

Norm

I'm not sure of the weight. I have the horn handle soaking in mineral oil now so i will weigh it in 24 hrs.

Sharpetoys it won't be long and your whole present outlook on knives will be skewed forever. What you used too think were big knives will become just nice sized kardas and what you thought were heavy knives will become light in the hand.
But in spite of that you will enjoy yourself like you haven't in ages and ages.:D  :D

Welcome too the world of khukuris and the Cantina/Psycho Ward!!!!:D ;)
