So I had just cleaned my spyderco resilience with soap and water and I have always done this. With the knife open I whip all the water out with the snap of my wrist. Well I guess it wasnt locked open as i had thought And i didn't even feel pain but suddenly there was blood everywhere. it had slammed down onto my thumb. It is a razor sharp blade and the cut is very clean but very large and deep. My kitchen looked like there was a massacre. Anyway I have the bleeding stopped but my thumb is very swollen. I think I'll survive. I think I'm going to retire this one from use maybe let it go all together. There is bad juju on it now. I have another resilience. Whew. That was a mess! Just thought I'd share.

Are you sure you'll survive?
Haha, I'm sure something like that has happened to every single guy on the forum. At least you didn't catch a machete by the blade, it still hurts with light pressure after a year.

Pics or it did`n happen......

Hope the wound will heal up quick and without any problems.. But don`t sell the knife, now she has tasted you then she is really Your blade..
If you get rid of here, she will haunt you, LOL....
Bad juju will og to Next owner, she will behave in your hands now that you have a blood-bond....

If it's a deep cut it's probably a good idea to get to a doctor. Hope it heals ok.
Yeah but no insurance at the moment. I'm my own doctor. I'll get some wound glue tomorrow. It definitely hit bone it felt like just a hard whack on my thumb. but not a lot of pain though because it is so sharp. I might go to a doctor. I'll see how it goes. It is really swollen

I feel it's a jinxed knife if it bites me a 3rd time. A nip here and there isn't any big deal to me. As long as it's something I can deal with myself without dr's getting involved I consider it no big deal. Nastiest I ever got was a jagged cat food can lid not a nice sharp knife. It scraped stuff down to the bone then pushed it all down to my knuckle. Inner and outer stitches, nerve damage etc. Hurt more than getting stabbed the couple times I had been ( 30 year retired CO ). Those just annoyed me and got me really angry.

Go to a minute clinic, I got 11 stitches in my shin at a minute clinic, after a piece of tile hit me. It didn't break the bank. I don't have insurance either.

Whats a minute clinic? Like the one at walgreens? or an urgent care place?

With a cut to the bone you might want to think twice about using wound glue. Sealing up a potential bone infection with that stuff can be BAD news. Best of luck healing.

Wherever you go, they're gonna want to update your tetanus unless you got one really recently. Get it done at your county health center instead, it should be a lot less expensive there.

Aint nobody got time for that. I work 60 to 72 hours a week

Then you certainly don't have time for a tetanus infection... or any infection for that matter. Working 60 to 72 hours a week still leaves you about 100 hours outside of work to take care of it. ;)

Meh, if you washed it out good and keep it clean there's no reason a cut on your thumb shouldn't heal up fine, no matter how deep it is. As long as you can stop the bleeding and there's no tendon damage it will grow back together. I find stitches are often more of a convenience than a necessity. Keep that thing clean and your body will take care of it.

Edit: Having said all that, I would second the idea of a tetanus booster if you haven't had one in the last decade.

No doubt, the horror stories alone keep my tetanus shots updated.
