Six months ago all I had was my little thirty year old Swiss Army knife. Then I discovered the world of quality blades and haven't looked back. So many choices it's scary. As Christmas approached, I ended up buying knives I'd like to have as presents -- Benchmade Grips, Spyderco, Kershaw. Rather than go nuts for myself, I decided to get one really good one, a Strider PT CC. It may be the most extravagant thing I own but it's kept me from buying multiple lesser knives.

In the back of my mind all this time was a skeleton frame fixed blade, I kept coming back to the Izula. I realized my nephew (tactical trainer, multiple gun owner, urban dweller) and my niece's husband (hunter, farmer, heavy equipment operator and rural) both could use an Izula.

Here's the lucky part. Just up the road is an excellent knife shop -- Grand Prairie Knives -- excellent prices, great inventory, good guys. I called up days before Christmas, wanting three Izulas. I ended up getting black for the urban guy, OD for the rural guy and OD for me. How cool is that, jump in the car, drive twenty miles, come back with three Izulas...

Jeez, did these guys love their knives! I've redefined myself with the in-laws. I love my Strider, the Izula is every bit as cool. I'm bad ;)

You do realize they are addictive and contagious. You've just infected two more people!

Seriously though, awesome gifts!

One of the reasons I got into knife making was so I could give quality knives to friends and family members. I think it's a wonderful gift that will last a lifetime and will serve them well. I'm sure they had a great Christmas with your help!

Look around the forum. They're coming out with a framelock Izula folder with the same great ergonomics!

Here's my Christmas RAT, ho ho ho --

I checked the site but i couldnt find a list of locations. Where did you find a store that you can walk in and buy RAT Cutlery knives? I would LOVE to do that as apposed to buying online. That way i can get a feel for all there knives.

I believe there's just the one, Troy, Illinois outside St. Louis. Check "Contact Us" or "About Us" for more info.

It IS nice to have a place with a lot of products to play with. I'd looked at a couple other places locally then found these guys. That's when I knew I was in trouble. As my thinking got more deranged, I devised the buying scheme I mentioned earlier. We'll see how long that works ;)

GPK only had Izula's but that's what I was looking for. Now if I don't get to handle a bigger RAT, I know I can count on them. But as I kinda said, I'm done buying knives.....................

Where did you get that paracord from? it sure does look nice

I got it locally (St. Louis) at a military surplus store -- Uncle Sam's.

This was a 50' pack called G.I. Plus, Type lll Commercial 550 paracord. They had three styles of camo, I don't know what this is called (not marked on the package). One was a desert camo, one had some dark blue in it I didn't like, and this stuff.

I posted some links here to places with good paracord selections.
