Lucky to still be alive !!!

On the trail never but if bushwhacking nearly everything that can be hung up will sooner or later. This isn’t to say that those who haven’t gotten their stuff hung up aren’t working the backcountry hard. Too many variables involved for any conclusion in my view beyond an individual’s experience.

I do a DIY paracord connecter out of thinner thread which is tested for its retention and breaking before doing me harm.

Excellent solution Woods Walker, I don't neck carry, and when I had to (controlled area badge) a safety clasp worked pretty well. Thin and strong with no release mechanism is NOT what you want around your throat.

I heard the same about finger rings when I began working

I actually did get hung up by my wedding ring tho a couple times on different machinery , and another time working on a bauxite mill , I got some caustic gunk under it and it burned a neat hole into my finger

The neck thin tho , I think the joiner thing is a good idea if it bugs you , but personally , I hate anything around my neck . I cant see myself wearing a neck knife at all

Like some other previous posters, I don't like wearing anything around my neck, although I'd make an exception for Jennifer Aniston.

There are other options:

A pocket rig. Another possiblility is kydex with a boot clip clipped on suspenders or other articles of clothing.

I know of a part out in a swamp near south carolina where a guy got strangled by a vine while riding a horse. lifted him off the horse and hung him there. Now the locals won't go in that part of the swamp. (I don't know why I've been there at night all the time, there aint no spooks!)

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet but if the choking thing does worry ya just hold the ends of your paracord over a flame till they start burning and then push them together and blow the flame out.....bingo you get a great seal without the breaking strength of the cord!
