I get why it's a hard sell, but every time I pick one of mine up I'm impressed. The handle is wonderful.

There's also no tax or shipping but I still couldn't order it. 🤷‍♂️

It's not the $, it just wouldn't "fit" in my collection. Just sold off around 100 knives, including 9 Spydercos in order to consolidate and better focus my collection and there still are a few Spyders that I may want to sell.

So, it makes no sense for me to add a Dao that I'd never use and would probably end up selling anyway.

Oh well . . .

Totally understand and agree. I sold off a bunch of knives until December 2019 and got sidetracked due to the pandemic. They were knives that I’d never use or carry and had not even looked at in years!

I’d say that about 90%+ of what I’ve been buying the past 3+ years are knives I’d carry and some have been carried. These are very slim folders (mostly flippers and lately front flippers) with blade lengths of 2.75”-2.99”, blade thickness of 0.08”-0.125” and weighing about 3 ounces or less.

My reason for getting a Lum Darn Dao is pure lust knowing that every time I looked at one it would bring a big grin to my face. However, I agree that I should try very hard not to be seduced by the dark side! 😇

I think the Lum Darn Dao is easily the heaviest knife produced by Spyderco at 18.4 ounces. That's a lot of 0.236" thick by 16.27" long full-tang metal which is also pretty wide. It probably chops with authority! LOL!

For a Spyderco folder, I think Tatanka was the heaviest at 9.5 ounces.

It’s actually “tapered full tang”. I left out the “tapered” part.

From Spyderco: “For maximum strength and a deft balance, the gracefully curved blade has a tapered full tang that is flanked by contoured black G-10 scales.”
 
To make really good use of the Dao, you actually need two of them. LOL! ;)

I wear large Mechanix gloves.
I debated getting this knife for a year.
I had a little extra cash built up in my guilt-free jar and knew if I never had one of these I’d regret it.

Mine is a total user that...errr...uhm...I just haven’t used yet. ;)
