Can any of you folks around here give me any info on the fixed blade Lum Tanto as far as old versus new. The typical differences in steel types handle materials and which is better. Thanks,

Your a tease Reject! :D Thanks for the pics I do like that middle one though.

The original black micarta handle one is the real classic, IMHO, although the other two are really nice as well. Awesome photo, Reject. Love the ant on the red paperstone sprint blade. :)

Thanks bjh, it doesn't seem to be too popular around here but I do want to pick one up for myself one day. I'd like to have one for an edc type knife, possibly in a kydex type sheath scout style crossdraw opposite of my sidearm.

I want one. Badly. They're absolutely gorgeous. Unfortunately, I just can't justify the purchase at that price, especially since I can't really carry it for the intended purpose of the knife.

I had one of the older ones. They are very nicely made, almost like a custom knife. I bought mine to use as a utility knife but I couldn't bring myself to use it for that so I eventually sold it.

Beautiful knife that's the one I want to pickup, hmm! I may just have to trade my satu for one eventually although I'd hate too as it's such a beast.

I got one off of the bay, 10-12 years ago. wanted one for a few years and finally got one used. The description said some scratches, and the pics looked good.

When I got it, it was trashed, looked like it was laying under a truck seat or in a tool box loose of the sheath. Contacted seller, he said it was fine when he sent it. Could have sent it back, almost did, but I couldn't do it.
I figured it had to be stolen or lost and found because nobody that bought one new would treat it that way.

Only paid around 85 bucks. Back then that was still pretty good. It took me a while but I got it back in shape. It needs kydex for me to carry it so it just sits in the cabinet with the other Lums.

One of the coolest fixed blades Spyderco ever put out.

It's a great blade. I've used it a few times cutting random things. Opened a few boxes, as a classy steak knife occasionally. Definitely get one if you find it at a good price. I've seen them pop on the exchange a couple times in the last few months. The older one and the new green g10, both pretty pricy if I recall correctly.

Thanks and I'm definitely looking for a first gen right now. I've even put up one of my favorite folders and I'll be taking a loss if I do find a willing soul to trade but that'll be fine with me. I've just got to check one out for myself I guess.;)

They are so hard to come by, the which one is better question really doesn't apply. But, the answer is whichever one you are lucky enough to get a hold of. I got the blacka nd green G10 with VG10 steel.
