Luminox Watches

My rated to 200m watch had a Ti push down crown. Most definitely not screw down. When I got it, they didn't make any other ones that I'm aware of...

My seals on the case back is what the watch guy told me, but even if he replaced it, it would only be water resistant because of the case wear. =(

I know it's significantly more expensive but I've been drooling over these two watches...the Sinn can be found for around $1000 on fleabay for a near new watch on a rubber band.....it's a very cool piece. Don't own one but have a friend who does and loves it. BTW: it's got a ETA 2824 movement (reworked) so you know parts are going to be readily available for when something inevitably breaks....even though it may be 15 years down the road.

This Schaumburg is a friggin STUD...don't know a whit about it beyond the fact that they use the ETA 2824 (reworked by them) or it's equivalent from another swiss maker, but: WOW

i also like sinn, i like the acrylic chrono a lot and if i wasnt fixing to have to put my son thru college i would have already have gotten one, i dont think it would knock my rolex GMT2 outta the saddle but would be a good alternative watch so i wouldnt "have" to wear my GMT2 daily lol, a "problem" lotsa folks would like to have i imagine lol, of course the sinns are a lot higher than luminox, seikos or marathons but are imho a pretty good value for what ya get & have an excellent rep in the watch world as far as i know.

I have the "Diver Professional" LUM with the camo face that I got for a real good price. The band was too big (because I think it was made to fit over a wetsuit) so I changed it out for one of their (overpriced) velcro & nylon straps. I've had it for a year or so and really like it. It's great for fishing - sturdy and heavy feeling, durable, waterproof and, most importantly, I can see it when I wake up at 4AM and thru until the sun rises. I don't know WHY I need to do that, but I like that I can.

My wife has one of the smaller "Navy Seal" ones (actually, I think the Seals tend to wear G-Shocks) and likes it because she can see it at night without her reading glasses.

I have one of the 'officer' ones which I like very much - dressy and I wear it to plays and concerts...that sort of thing.

I don't think they're worth the "list" price, but they're a good watch for the money if you get them on sale. For me, the specific purpose is to be able to clearly see the time at night - be it fishing, in a motel without a clock, or at a play/movie.

I got my fishing buddy an "Uzi" watch (which cost about 1/3) because it also has the tritium dial. Not as heavy or as 'solid' feeling, but he's taken it fishing with him for on to 7 months now and it takes a beating and does the job.

Out of curiousity, I sent Luminox an email asking about the average illumination life and crown mechanism. Here is their response:

"Good morning sir,

Most Luminox watches begin to dim between years 8 and 10, and that is because of the natural element of tritium has a halflife of 12 years. In regards to the crown, it is a push in crown for expense, but the watch is still water resistant to 200m."

Has anyone noticed the illumination dimming sooner than you expected?

I havent noticed any dimming but I have had Luminox watches that were defo brighter than others.

I've had this SandY 590 (which has Tritum tubes) for about 10 years or so. It's not as bright as it was when new but it still is more than bright enough.

Is there a big replica market for this watches? Reason I ask is a guy has a 3001 series that he is trying to sell for like $80.00. Haven't seen the watch to see the full condition of it, but he says it in good condition.

Got this 8000 series in a pawn shop NIB for 250.00. Keeps excellent time and have had no problems in the 4 yrs? I've had it. Nice heavy SS links. It gets a lot of compliments! its my EDC lol.

i have had a Navy Seal orange for 12 or 13 years. Tough waterproof accurate watch. I got tired of replacing the bands (too expensive), but am very happy with my Maratac Zulu band. I get compliments from the guys who change batteries! They like the design of the seal.

I have two of the Luminox 3204s. List is $575. I bought both for an average of $250.00. I got one from Jomashop about 4 years ago and one from Dexclusive about 9 months ago. I have been very satisfied (that's why I bought the second one as they are not made any more in this model). I've never had a bit of problem.

BTW this site is currently listing them for $246.98: http://www.dakmart.com/m47/LUMINOX/...NLESS-STEEL-NAVY-SEAL-WATCH/product_info.html.

I have never dealt with these people so this is NOT an endorsement.

Actually, for a "SEAL dive watch" that is rated at 200M and has a MSRP of $275, I am a little surprised it doesn't have a screw down crown.

Well, how else is water suppose to get in? :)
In all seriousness, that is the problem. I quite like the Reactor Trident watch, it's awesome and also uses Tritium type material.

I also wear a reactor Trident in titanium and just sold my Luminox. I prefer the brightness and the placement of tritium tubes in the Reactor.

The Luminox watch I had (3051) was absolute shit buy a nite. I had one fall apart in 3 months, the minute hand fell off for no reason, I sent it for repair. 1 month later the crown fell off somehow and I wasnt sure where it fell so I never found it. I had bought it through Jomashop so I only had their warranty. They told me they would not replace the crown because they did not cover external parts. Also the bezel marker was already cracked when it arrived. It was basically a big waste of time and money. So this watch is built for navy seals yet it cant handle the everyday tasks related to being a college student? Fuck Jomashop and fuck Luminox too.

Wow, I'd be pissed too. I always wondered about their cheap models. I have two of the stainless 3204s. Never a bit of problem with them. They've been great, accurate, sturdy, reliable for me. Sorry abut your bad experience. From what I'm hearing they run hot and cold with some models not holding up well.

I've seen those watches and they look really cool. Where would one go about buying one? I looked around the net and found little or no info.
