Luminox Watches?

I've had my Luminox 3051 since April. I absolutely love it. Can take a beating, very light and comfortable on my wrist, easy to read no matter what time of day, and the tritium glow is second to none. I definitely recommend one.

Use to want one.... I'll stick to my g-shock
Going on 4th year of everyday wear, no problems yet

I'll stick to indestructibility, solar power, and atomic timekeeping

You can keep your tritium and "seal approval"

After looking at watches for dozens of hours over the last year or so Reactor is still the only watch manufacturer that seems to make a watch that I can be confident in. The band is bolted in place, every single one of them has Tritium in the face (as well as tons of lume), they all have a ten year battery, the crown has o-rings (so you won't accidentally ruin your watch in the shower), and they actually pressure test their watches to rated depth (even after replacing the battery). You can find them for less than $200 either refurbished or on closeout, though I would rather pay full price for one of those than get something that breaks.

Havent had a Lum yet but I can say that my G-shocks are a great bang for their buck. Super tough with lots of fun features. I have the riseman on my wrist as I type this. Another watch that you might like is the Seiko black or orange monster. You can get them for around 200 bucks. They sport a full metal band and have great lume and overall look great IMO. Another bonus is that they are automatic so no messing with batteries.

Traser is now making some of the older style Luminox. For instance, the Traser Commander is the old Luminox 3602. I am not sure if they are related but both are Swiss made.

I've had a luminox and worn it every day since 98 or 99(all stainless, i think its an aviator model). i did send it to luminox for a battery replacement and have replaced about 3 batteries locally. its been through some of the worst environments on a few different continents. its never failed me. i don't have to push any buttons to see what time it is in pitch dark, BUT, the next watch i get will be a traser. i have a few other watches, a real nice Seiko, cant stand it because it doesn't have tritium so i don't wear it.

the new luminoxs aren't made by the same company and have had a bunch of problems. from what i understand traser is the company that made the watches for luminox, so they are the ones to get now. the second hand and minute hand thing on the newer luminoxs is something that happens a lot from what i've heard.

get an older luminox or buy a traser.
as far as the "special team" not wearing luminox and wearing g-shocks, they wear what ever they want i've seen more than a few with luminox.(on tv)

I got my luminox when I was a wee little lad, nearly 20 years ago now. It survived about 10 of em. Eventually it got water inside that could not be gotten out. Considering it was hardly ever serviced and was taken into many a hot tub I think it did pretty good. That being said I got a Marathon TSAR then GSAR and could not be happier with it. (Although I will be investing in a face cover to avoid being spotted on late night Super Secret Squirl Ops.) Check out the watches over at County Comm, theyre all pretty well priced and solid.

For $40 more you could get a Deep Blue Dive watch with T100 tritium tubes (Luminox use T25 tubes), a steel case, and a automatic movement.

If you are interested in Luminox, take a look at a watch company called Tawatec.

The Tawatec second hand actually matches up with all the second notches on the dial, and the fit and finish is better. You do pay a bit more ($300) but both watches have been top notch for me. I get a lot of questions about my watches, mostly from other guys tho :p

Didn't really care much for the plastic ones but the all Stainless models are really nice. I've had this one for about a year... Keeps perfect time and glows very
bright.

I've only seen deep blue dive watches with lume, the ones that look simmilar to citizens, but never tritium... whats the model? Are they new?

Luminox watches are pathetic.

I had 2, the minute hand fell off one of them and the other had a flaw in the seal and took in water while I was swimming in a pool. Luminox would not honor their warranty either.

Stay away from them.

I've had one for almost 8 years. I think one new battery and I had to replace the band (mainly because I tried to fix it and surprisingly, I'm not a watchband expert). Mine has taken a real beating and I'd recommend it.
