I got this in gagets and gear but thought it might be a good thing to put here.
Hears the story. While on vac.I got caught in a rain and had to walk in it about a half mile.Later I noticed that my luminox had condinsation inside it.So I called cabelas were I got it and they gave me the phone # to call about it and asked that I send it to them.I called and was told to send it in along with 10.00,so I did.I just got a letter saying that it will be another 53.00 to have it fixed.I called them yesterday and asked about it stateing that I thought it should be covered under warrenty and was told that they would pull it and see why it isn't.She said she would call me right back(Still have heard nothing). It has a one year warrenty and I have had it less than a year.If they do not cover it I will have them send it back because Cableas told me it should be covered and if Luminox will not honor the warrnty they would. In short
1.Probably my last luminox
2.Luminox BAD!!!!
3.Cableas GREAT!!!!
Am I out of line thinking that a water proof watch less than a year old should not have leaked from a rain and the warrnty should cover repair?

Did you change the battery? It seems unlikely after just one year. Some manufacturers will try to wiggle out of the warranty unless the battery was replaced by THEM (at outrageous prices). Luminox should repair your watch under warranty. Please keep us updated on the progress.

I have a particular interest in Luminox watch failures. I am currently waiting for Bill Yao of MkIIWatches.com to get his conversion dials sorted out for the Luminox 3100. I was counting on Luminox' well-regarded quality control to make up for the fact that the conversion watch only gets a ninety day warranty from Bill.

I have heard too many stories like this. Until Luminox changes their policy their will be no more Luminox's for me.

Jeff: That just plain sucks! I traded my Luminox a while ago, though I had no problems with it. I've been wearing the same $50 G-Shock since 1998, all the time, without a hitch. I can't believe they wouldn't repair such an expensive watch (unless you paid) especially when it's supposed to still be under warranty. Thanks for the heads up.

Just got word that they are not going to cover it under warrenty. They gave me some cock and bull about its crown and stem being bent.If it was it must have came that way seeing that I have not had the stem pulled out except for maybe two or three times sence I got it.I know it has been at least 3 mounths sence the last time.On the bright side I called Cableas and told them what I was told and they said they would take care of it with either an exchange or refund( I am going for an exchange so they can still make some on what I get).On top of that great service they even offered to pay for the return shipping of the watch.I told them I would be glad to handle the shipping cost.If I wasn't before,I am a life long Cableas customer now! :D

I'll second that!
Cabela's has always taken great care of me. They have first class customer service! I can think of no better place to spend my money! My wife on the other hand..... :D

I had a 3101 from luminox a few monthes ago that I put a waterbourne strap on as my workout/jogging/don't want to mess up my 3000 dollar Fortis Automatic alarm chronograph. when we change the clocks back in October of 2002 I went to set the luminox back an hour and the whole stem assembly came clean out of the case. I called luminox and got the same" send it and 10 bucks for return shipping" deal. I got a call stating it would not be covered Because I changed the strap to a NON-Luminox strap! I told them to send my watch back unrepaired and they did everything but flat out refuse to stating that it would no longer be covered under warrenty if it was sent back to me unrepairedafter they told me it would no longer be covered in the first place
After a 15 dollar trip to a local watch repair place It was back in minty condition(had case and crystal polished. it now sits in a drawer until I can give it to my 12 year old brother to toy with

I think we can say that Luminox is getting a VERY BAD reputation!Useally the next thing for this kind of out fit is closeing thier doors. Can anybody say chapter 13?
I do have one good thing to say about them, they are pollite while they brake it off in you.

I guess I should also add that I had a Luminox captains watch a few years back. It stopped working about 5 months after I purchased it. I figured the battery was the culprit, however it failed to restart after a new battery was installed by yours truly. I e-mailed luminox and they said to send it in (with $10.00 for return postage. They added that after they assessed the "damage" they would send me an estimate for the cost of repairs. I expected a more thoughtful solution to my problem, after all, they supposedly make the "Navy Seal Watch". I figured a normal guy like me would have to do a hell of a lot to break a watch worthy of the SEAL logo, right? I guess not. Anyway, I decided to sink that $10.00 shipping charge
(Plus what my shipping cost would have been to send it to them) into a Casio G-shock. It hasn't let me down yet. As for the Luminox, I tore the watch apart and used the tritium vials with some crazy glue to illuminate my bow sight. Smart? Maybe not. Creative? Sure, why not? :D
