much like brad duncan, rob cheetham is taking money for orders and failing to delivery products. he is, however, making and selling lights and other products directly via facebook and other avenues without filling previously open orders.

i purchased a light w/tritium inserts, battery, and charger ($114.96) on february 18, 2011. i emailed rob on april 29, and rec'd this response on may 2:

i Mark,

Again apologies for the delays, with all the recent holidays & it is still a Holiday Monday here in the UK I have been unable to collect parts from the machine shop.
All is getting back to business this week & I will then be able to get your order shipped.
If you could just allow some more time please then your order will be on its way.
Kind Regards
Rob @ www.Lummi.co.uk
Check out the new iStiki.
On the Lummi homepage.

two months later (5 months total), no additional communication, no product, nothing.

there are others who have been waiting years for orders. if inquiries are made on facebook, they are deleted and the user is dropped from the page.

there are several threads on cpf, and i have started one on usn. rob, username orb, had his own forum on cpf, but has disappeared from there as well.

save yourself the headache and get a mcgizmo or surefire.

Years ago, Rob seemed to have a pretty good operation going, but he has definitely made all sorts of problems for himself in the last couple years. No way would I purchase from him directly. I think some folks from CPF have been waiting close to a year for "in stock" orders.

Have you asked him directly for a refund? IIRC, a few people did and were eventually refunded their money.

well, that is part of the problem. "eventually" is awfully open to interpretation. customers eventually get their lights. customers eventually get their refunds.

i have no problem waiting several months, or longer, for a product so long as i know that going in to the deal. the wee is advertised with a 1 month delivery time, and that is clearly not accurate. that is, unless, you happen to purchase one directly from say, facebook.

website orders should be closed until he is able to clear the existing backlog. whatever parts he is able to purchase should go directly to products from the existing backlog, not to lights he is selling via other avenues while claiming he is using that money to buy parts for my light.

I completely agree with you MORIMOTOM. Rob's business practices are unethical at best and probably illegal. He makes good lights, but I don't think they are worth the agony of waiting and hoping for the best. I really do hope things work out for you.

A meaningless post from MT Knives Buyer -- who has been banned recently. Resurrecting a year-old thread with no real information of how he got his so quickly. The only reason I am not closing this is that it brings notice of a scammer or very poor businessman to the top.

Don't even bother, they are useless and can do nothing. I got run round in circles by "trading standards" over an internet purchase from a different seller that I just got totally bumped for. When I asked for my money back they told me where to go and sent abusive emails to top it all off. I had everything from the original perchase details to the abusive e-mails printed out and taken to their office by hand. All I got was "oh, that's terrible...." and that was about it even though they walked me about in circles for literally months managing to do nothing at all.

I have no idea if you actually can as a foreigner or how it would work, but just take him to the small claims court and save your self the run about. While £100 isn't great deal of money it's indeed enough to want back. Also if you can follow that road use a court in the opposite corner of the UK from him as he will have to travel there.

He seems to be in Germany.

Yes, it seems he does live in Germany and while you were able to read his location with out issue you seem to have missed this part of my post.....or do you have another point ?

Point? Can a County Court issue a judgment against a foreign national? Are not "small claims" prosecuted in the County Court?

That's what I don't know. I have never tried it and don't personally know of any one else that has tried it either. Unfortunatelly the other options seem to be somewhat pointless persuing even from with in the UK.
