Just a hike I took last Friday. I started at the trailhead of the Black Creek Trail in Mississippi and stopped for a late lunch on this sandbar.

Found what looks like a snake "track" to me. I can't tell if he's heading to the water or away from the water. I'm not the greatest tracker, but it doesn't help when they don't have feet.

These tracks caught my eye as well. I count 4 toes with claws, but it also looks like something was dragging down the middle.

Splitting up some wood for a fire with my RD9.

Here's my tinder and my fire steel. No magnesium necessary here. I really didn't bother making much of a fire lay. That's probably something I need to practice more.

This stuff blazed right up with just a few strikes.

A little view of my lunch spot.

Hell yes I packed a can of beef stew in.

Nothing to do but put my feet up and relax.

Oh yeah, that looks good.

The satisfaction (and chin) that only beef stew can bring.

Here's the blade of the day, looking like it got a little love.

Freaking awesome Capt  I could sit on that bank for days.

And the beef stew, even though canned, looks damn good...great now I'm hungry....:D

Yeah, that sandbar is such a great spot. With all the tracks I've seen on it, IDK if I'd want to be there after dark. :)

Those are indeed very nice and relaxing pictures. You got me jealous.;) I bet you the stew, really hit the spot there!

Looks a fine day out indeed. Good weather, good food, some fire and a big blade.

Is that a 'rhythm' magazine at the end?;)

great pics.... love the sand on the river... Now what i need is a fishing rod and some fresh fish...

That looks like a great area to spend some time. I'd set up a shanty right there on the whie sand :)

I always chuckle at the folks who laugh at the guy lugging a can of stew...only to try to beg some off the guy once they smell it on the fire! Good on you CaptInsano! What a great place to have a fun time out on the river. WOuld be interesting to sleep out near there at night to see who's visiting the river.....

Yeah that thick stew is good. Always kind of wondered about the 'so-called' beef, but the stew is good, especially the potatoes and salty gravy/broth - yum! That sand looks like snow almost. Looks like a great day you had.
