The Virginian's thread encouraged me to dig out my pics of the two d-p hunters I received from Rob.

..........the stag handled one I used to skin a deer with few weeks back - yep, does what it says on the tin

I've had the pleasure of seeing these up close and they are a superb couple of knives.

and Chui I'm not jealous at all...........no really.

Both very nice!

If I had to choose out of the two, I would have to take that stag! The red liners, especially against the bolsters, are a nice touch.

I too have seen these up close and they are perfect!

Here are a few of mine.........

Steven (Alfaholic),

Those bottom two are creamy and dreamy to the max. I'm VERY impressed. Good for YOU!

Chui-888: Now that I see you're from the UK, I'll submit those are Kam Singh's clear images. He's good. :)

Coop - originally, I'm from Africa just like Steven - but here I am living in damp, cold, grey London ;)

Thanks Coop. It may interest you to know that those two pairs are almost 20 years old. I collect pairs and I have a number of larger, smaller pairs from Rob. Those two pairs were also the first of those patterns. Since mine he has made many.

Looking after the ivory has been a chore though.......

Coop

Coop, it may interest you to know that those images were taken by Rob himself. Rob is an avid admirer of your work and uses a light box system much like the one you developed for the famous $75 rig. What shocked me was that when I visited him in 2011 he had no photo-specific lights, either taking pictures under the fluorescents of the workshop or outside when the weather was overcast. All the old images on his website he took himself too back before he got a digital camera.

P.S. Chui - I'm very very very jealous. I'd love me a couple of dropped hunters like those.

^^^ Nice. When you're good at one thing, often you're good at many. Props!

Thanks for that. Now, where's the shop visit pics? :D

Very many thanks.

The guys here in UK reckon its the best fit/finish they've ever clapped eyes on for a Loveless style - I have many from various makers all over, and gotta say...........:)

The stag one was best in show:

And this year on my visit to Johannesburg and the Guild Show, I bought a larger type/version from the young but very talented up-and-coming Neill Schutte:

- please forgive poor quality pics

Chui 888 beautiful knives..Where did you get the deer?.
Did not know someone will take a best of show and use it to gut a deer. How did the knife perform. Was the heat treat good on the steel and was it still sharp when you had finished with the deer.
Hard to find Rob Brown knives for sale out here. You have a very good collection there, congratulations
The few Rob Brown that I have handled, exhibit a very high level of fit and finish
