This is a very well written article about a problem many in the medical field have ignored ! It's far more serious than I thought !! I'm in the middle of treatment now ,delayed by dumb doctors !!

Pass this one on and be carefull. We often worry about the big things in survival but here's a tiny thing that can be terrible even deadly !!

Sorry to hear that you have to deal with having Lyme.
I'm in the heart of an area that is known to be a hot bed of deer ticks and Lyme.

How did the Native Americans deal with this? Did Lyme exist back then? Did they have a way to stop ticks from biting? It's a good question.

first, I am going to say, I am no doctor, so take this however you want. I suffered from Lyme's, improperly diagnosed for over 3 years, when it was diagnosed, I was given several rounds of doxy, and tetra with absolutely no effect. Chronic random pain was the norm for me. Well, I went to work at a health food store and ran into a few people who suggested that because of all the antibiotics, I should do a cleanse. (I know, I know, do we really want to believe all that hooey from health nuts?) Anyway, at this point in my life I was game for just about anything that might make me feel better, so I did some research and decided to do a master cleanse, otherwise known as the lemonade diet. I did this cleanse/fast for 13 days and something amazing happened, I haven't had a single incident of Lyme's symptoms since. I cannot say for sure that it cured me, but I am convinced that it did, it has now been 2 years since I did the cleanse and still no symptoms. Try it if you dare, I won't say it will definitely cure you, but I am certain that it does help. Here's the kicker, this in a way answers your American Indian question, they were mostly hunter - gatherers, that means that they intermittently fasted, there are many health practitioners who now believe that we are meant to fast from time to time. If anyone tries this approach, let me know if it worked for you, I'd love to see it help someone.

The problem is that anti-biotics aren't very selective .They kill bad AND friendly bacteria .So with the antibiotic you should be taking probiotic to replace the good bacteria ! Get the best pro-biotic , these are found in the refrigerator or freezer !!

I have had many friends and colleagues come down with Lyme, including myself. Many of us did not know that they had it as the classic symptoms do not always appear. The symptoms are numerous and are often described as flu like. But this can encompass a suite of symptoms that include joint pain, swelling of the appendages, dizziness, acute fatigue, restlessness, etc. Many that have contracted Lyme did not fare so well. In general, if you have a competent physician and you catch it early you should recover without too many problems. However, if it is caught later in the life-cycle of the bacterium the damage can often be permanent. Furthermore, an article published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) found that Lyme can make you predisposed to pneumonia and other respiratory illness. It can also impair cardiac function as well. And while people will often believe that is a Northeastern disease it is not and it is wide spread thought much of North American. On a side note, while people often confuse ticks as insects they are not. They are arachnids and are more closely allied with spiders, mites, etc. Why is this important...well they have different life-cylces and a different physiology when compare to insects. All ticks (regardless of species) can carry Lyme as well as Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and the latter is more common in the southeastern USA then in the western states. Not to belabor the point, but the CDC has a additional information on the subject. In closing, if you venture into the woods use appropriate sprays/repellents and check yourself often for embedded or soon to be embedded ticks.

Iceman Mummy May Hold Earliest Evidence of Lyme Disease

"The 5,300-year-old ice mummy dubbed Ötzi, discovered in the Eastern Alps about 20 years ago, appears to have had the oldest known case of Lyme disease, new genetic analysis has revealed.

As part of work on the Iceman's genome — his complete genetic blueprint — scientists found genetic material from the bacterium responsible for the disease, which is spread by ticks and causes a rash and flulike symptoms and can lead to joint, heart and nervous system problems."

I've been doing intermittent fasting for a year or so, I fast almost everyday for about 16 hours.
Coffee enama's will cleanse gall bladder, kidneys, and lymphatic system. My wife having cancer, enzymes, restoring minerals, vitamins, cleanses, and killing off microbes , bacteria, are paramount.
Angstrom silver is a lot stronger than colloidal, and will not turn you blue.

I hate the term classic or typical symptoms. All too often these become the 'only' symptoms. And any others are ignored bythe doctors.
If you ever see a proper long list of allergic reactions it includes most anything !!!
Lyme also has a huge list of symptoms . To make things worse it's called the great mimicker .Some of us have had 5 or 6 seemingly unrelated symptoms but all really Lyme ! If you track down one of them like arthriritis you get nothing .You have to have a doctor who is aware of the evils of Lyme.

I understand your points as they parallel my own. Many people don't like the terms classic or traditional when it comes to symptoms, but that is why I said is it often a suite of symptoms. And it does take the right physician to diagnose and treat the disease. What complicates the matter is that there is no clear pattern on what symptoms will emerge and not all people are impacted in the same way. Many people are asymptomatic long before they are diagnosed with the disease. It is a sad state of affairs and one that should be taken more seriously. One of my colleagues who is a pathologist said Lyme disease was his biggest concern in the SE USA. It made us all listen up and take extra precautions. Many professionals in my community have pushed to be more proactive and do a better job educating the public and the medical community. Maybe it will help and it certainly can't hurt as we are behind the eight ball with this disease.

We had a guy at our hunting club who hunted almost every day during the season. He was pretty hard core. He showed up everyday at about 2:00PM and would ease out in the woods. Anyway, he contracted lyme disease one year. Took awhile to figure out. He only made it out a couple of times the next season because he never felt well due to the disease.

I'm off to the hospital again to get rid of the Lyme as all the symtoms have returned full bore !
It seems that the Lyme , if caught and treated early can be dealt with fairly quickly .If it's been there for a while it gets in deeper and is much harder to get out .Have no idea what will happen . Again it's very hard to find Lyme doctors even in a "Lyme hotspot " !!
