i was at the cold steel annual sale yesterday with a few of my friends, in search of a couple of good camping knives. while we were wandering around the event ogling knives i ran into Lynn Thompson who i recognized from the videos. he gets allot of bad press around here because of his "antics" and claims, i hadn’t met him and didn’t have any opinions on him, just a guy who owns and runs a good knife company. i started to talk to him about hunting/camping knives, and after a good story about boar hunting i told him i was leaving for the marines peaty soon. he pulled out a pad of paper and wrote something down on it, he told "were your going you might just need this" and instructed me to take the note to a tall guy on the far side of the tent, gave me handshake an thanked me. i walked up with the note to the other side of the tent and after handing over the note was presented with the warriors edge dvd box set, for free. such random kindness from a guy id just meant was disarming, and im very great full. maybe his dvd's are a bit over the top, maybe he is a bit more aggressive in marketing than he should be, but i nicer, more charitable man I’ve never met.

wow do you run your own store or are you as paranoid as i am, i always get double sets of my favorite knives in case they break or stop production. either way nice collection!

i still think hes a pompus jackass wanker . COLD STEAL . how is a dvd box set going to help you in the marines? what really makes me laugh is he burns mick strider (another fakeass poser) for making a knife thats nothing more then sharpened barstock with a paracord handle , then he copies the knife exactly.

I'm far from trying to defend LT, but as an Army officer, innovator, and martial artist, I don't think the term "poser" is quite as justified as I have seen it thrown around here. I wish the poster's who make such claims would include their bona fides to understand their view, but since they don't, I can only assume they have none.

Isn't America great! The one country you are guaranteed to hear opinions from the totally unqualified with no dog in the fight!

Far better he could have simply given you a knife, instead of a DVD set, even if it is a rough copy - no, it's not exact, if you bother to really look and read the specs - but going to basic with fun toys like knives will just keep them locked up for graduation - so he didn't set you up for failure, either. He probably hears a lot of "I gonna join the service" at every opportunity.

Always glad to hear something nice about folks who actually make a living selling knives. These days he is at least no worse than Gerber.
