I know these knives have been out for awhile now, but does everyone that has one still like it? I am very seriously considering one. I generally dislike coatings, but I guess i can live with it. How does the knife perform? Is it that much better than ATS-34? How does the coating wear?

Dennis, I would say get one! Ive had mine since early summer and of all my knives, this one gets the most carried. I stopped for awhile when I got my Commander, but now it takes the back seat to my AFCK M2.

I've used mine alot at work on cardboard and Ive yet to sharpen it. It holds an edge better than the ATS-34 knives Ive got.

The coating has held up well. I rubbed mine with a little Metal Glow just to give the blade a bit more of a gloss black look...No reason other than I just like it that way!

If you get the chance try and pick one out yourself...I had to look at 3-4 before I found the pick of the litter. Some rubbed the liner and others the locks seemed to stiff. I've open and closed mine I dont know how many times and the lock has never drifted over.

Mine has been gathering dust for a while now, even though I have a very nice sheath made by Gary Graley for it. The coating does wear and scratch fairly easily, but the steel holds an edge for quite some time, much better that BMs ATS-34. I’ve always liked the ergonomics of this knife, though it is a touch to large and the black blade gets some looks. No problems with the liner lock on mine, but at the price point what you are paying for is the steel. I much prefer my new BM 720.

I've had my M2 mini-AFCK for well over a year. I like it so much I've given 4 others out as gifts. Great pocket knife! Tough... sharp... just what the doctor ordered.

My M2 AFCK sees more use than any knife I own. Have owned a Military, Starmate and Commander but keep going back to the AFCK. Love the way it gets scary sharp and holds it a long time. Great blade shape for use. First one I had was serrated so I sold it and got a plain edge. Its in my pocket right now, as usual. The durability of BMs BT2 coating sucks, but not much worse than most other black coatings. If mine gets looking bad enough, I will just remove it and satin finish the blade myself.

I use both my AFCK and Stryker (M2) to deburr aluminum and stainless parts at work. They are, by far the best edgeholding folders I have ever owned. The coating has held up well for what I put them through.
I would like to see BM use the M2 on the some of their other folders!

I have carried a variety of folders for over many years and among the few that I always go back to is my M2 (ATS 34 prior to that) AFCK. I have found that it is capable of performing all the tasks that I 've asked a _folder_ to do. I always felt very comfortable and confident in its carrying and deployment qualities. The M2 steel is more prone to corrosion/ staining and consequently requires the black protective coating. With the exception of the scales/ liners flexing under hard use, overall it is a good multipurpose linerlock.

Love my mini- in fact, two of my friends have bought their own after "playing" with it.

Really like the M2 version, my coating has stayed pretty good, but it hasn't run up against hard sharp things yet. I keep it in the front right hand pocket and wear another knife in a sheath on my belt, allows for carrying a few knives at the same time.

As for better than ATS-34, schools out on that as I had one for a short time and it was good and sharp, press cut through cable pretty easy and stayed sharp, didn't have it long enough to evaluate the differences.

I love mine.. Holds an edge great and seems fairly tough.. though I havent really pryed anything with it. Coating is fairly hard, but will show scratches. I got tired of black and am putting a satin finish on it right now. Not because the coating is lacking, bt cuz I think it would look really nice.

I like mine. Did alot of things with it,
still going strong.
I'm sorry I cannot import the full sized one,
local "doogooders" think it's too large for
us....

I have a plain edge enroute from MJS knives. I find myself getting away from serrations these days. I will let you all know how I like it. Thanks for the input it made my decision alot easier.

I have the full and mini size in M2.

Great knives. What I consider "permanent" members of my collection.

Take and hold a great edge.

Fit and finish on both of mine has been virtually flawless.

How does one get rid of a BT2 coating BTW? I would think abrasive wheel but that would make the knife look nasty wont it? Do you bring it to a custom maker to have a satin finish put on it???

I do not like bt2 coatings and am debating whether to get the ats34 afck or the m2 afck and find some gentleman to give it a satin finish.

Im not comfortable removing it myself. I may contact Corduroy and, if hes not too backed up, have him work his magic on it. I really like the superior steel on the M-2, but I sure do hate coatings.

I have heard good things about using Scotchbrite and elbow grease to remove the coating. I'm sure if you are really ready to do it, you could post a thread and the people who have done it before would come out in droves. I know that one guy removed the BT from his Nimravus, and it looked beautiful. I'm pretty sure he just used Scotchbrite pads.

Ive been carrying it for a while. This steel does hold an edge like its going out of style. Very ergonomic. Fit and finish are excellent, with the exception that the coating bites. I would love to see one with an axis lock and a titanium carbonitride coating.

My vote goes to buying it, it is an awsome, because I have always been favorable to M2 steel........
