M-48 Medford folder issues

if you take the tension from the lock bar away from the blade, does it move freely?

It is hard to say. I can still hear that brushing sound (not sure if you can hear it in the Youtube video). And the resistanse seems the same.
Not sure if I am using the right technique. I hold the knife in left hand and push the lock bar out with my right index finger.

How about just sending it back to Medford? They have the fastest warranty turn around time in the biz. I would usually have my knives back within 2 weeks when I’d send them for a tune up.

I would, but i live in Norway, and ordered it from Finland. I sent an email to Medford, so I am waiting to hear back from them.

I tried to get the brushing sound on video but my cellphone cannot pick it up unfortunatly. But the video shows how i tried to take preassure off the lock bar...

Try blasting it out with wd-40 and air before taking it apart. Might just be a little grit in there.

I got a spyderco second that felt like sandpaper. Blast of wd-40 and now it's glass. Good luck!

Not sure if it has anything to do with my issue but I noticed some small rust marks on the clip. If there is rust in the action it might affect it...

When it comes to disassembly. Medford is strict on warranty so I won't do that. I can't feel any difference on the action when taking pressure off the lock bar. The knife is brand new so I should not have to oil it to make it work. Are the only option left that it might have been tightened too hard? If so, which screw do I loosen one quarter? The biggest top one?

If it is an adjustment a noob can easily do, then I'll do it. If not I will try to send it back.

The pivot has bearings. If they are gritty, you could disassemble and clean or buy skiff bearings for it and see how they work. I’ve done that before. Disassembly disclaimers are for people that jack the knife up when they take it apart. If you’re competent enough, just do it. It’s a $500 knife. That’s worth a try to avoid an overpriced paperweight scenario.

Yes that would be the one to adjust. Have you spoke to the dealer?

While that was true at one point, it is an often misunderstood statement and one that Medford has clarified. Disassembly is acceptable, their warning is for those who "tinker" with or alter his knives.

Try the front, but you might need two drivers to hold the rear as your turn. Also you probably won’t need to loosen it very much at all.

I guess I wont be able to loosen them. As they seems to be in T26 torx. In Norway stores only sell T20, T25, T30 and so-on (On rare occations T27).
European Torx may not be what Medford are using? If so, what is the US named screw bit I should have?

Torx should be the same. Maybe it’s a T27?

I got a response:

Andreas,

Here is the response I received from Greg:

So, it is either fouled with something in the bearings, or needs lubrication or needs the presentation side pivot screw removed, cleaned, re-thread locked and adjusted for a slightly lighter tension until you are happy with the action. This does not affect the warranty.

Best of luck to you! Please reach out again if you have any more questions.

So they want me to re-thread the pivot screw!?!?!
No, he is saying put a drop of blue loctite on the threads when re assembling

It's possible it uses IP Torx screws. One of my Biryukov's uses IP8 on the pivot.

Dude u may have to switch to fixed blades this is a lot.

Yes, I am new to flipknives, and English is not my native language. Lock bar, bearings, pivot, slip joint, re-thread etc are new terms for me.
I did not figure I had to read up on disassembly and terms when i bought this knife.

Some say go ahead and disassemble, others say no. Some say spray it with WD-40 others no. Medford manual even says you cannot spray high preassure air into it.
So sorry if I ask alot, but this is a 550 dollar knife.
