Hi Everybody, I thought you might like to see something interesting and different.
This is my M1 Garand knife. The handle replicates the shape of the M1 stock and uses wood from an actual USGI Garand stock. The headstamps set in the handle were manufactured in the St. Louis (my hometown) ammunition plant in 1943. Brass pins and liners complete the handle. Steel is 1095 and acid etched. The stand used the remainder of the .30-06 case with a bullet turned from a piece of stock. This is my tribute to the "Greatest battle implement ever devised."

And here's a short video of me firing off the live primers in my WWII era M1 Garand...

Very nice.

A trick on making rivets from shell casing ends is to punch out and drill the primer hole. Then recess the scales on both sides until the shells fit flush. Use a brass rod through primer holes and run it through the handle. Peen it on both sides. Sand flush and add a dimple in the center for a "fired" look, or leave smooth for the "Live round" look.
