Made this one from a Simmonds M2 power hacksaw blade, about 3/32" thick. I annealed and re-heattreated it with liquid nitorgen, final RC is 61. 4" long blade, natural canvas micarta handle slabs w/ stainless pins and big thong hole. Kydex sheath.

Often used for drill bits. Tough, abrasion resistant, deformation resistant----all around great steel. Not stain resistant so don't put it away wet or covered with blood or vegetable matter, but it makes a very nice knife.

That's a very classy, useful looking knife!

I personally havn't had much experience with M2, and made this one after listening to a friend and fellow knifemaker who uses it almost exclusively now for all his skinners and light hunting knives. He and his boys are serious game takers, and have found these M2 blades to hold a serious edge for quite some time. He however, grinds them hard and dispenses with the annealing and re-heat treating.

When I did the heat treating, I looked up various recipes and it shows roughly (if my memory serves) .8-.9 carbon content wth around 5-6% tungston and 2% vanadium, with some chromium thrown in for good measure.

Payment sent out in today's mail. I am really looking forward to trying this one out, very familiar with M2- that stuff can take an edge like nothing else!

Natural Micarta on there looks great! It is my new favorite handle material. Great job clint.
