That guy has been making kydex rigs and selling on ebay for a while and from what I've read on the forums he does a superb job.

Fatwood is $5/box. That comes with one piece. Maybe 30¢.
Looks like maybe 10' of paracord. 70¢

Closer to $77.50.

It's Ebay. I say good on him. He seems to start his auctions off very cheap for what you get and they take off from there.

If someone's willing to pay it then it's worth it. That said, my Mora sheaths are now $300 each before options. :p

Point taken Vance. I'm not trying to knock your calculation. Just trying to get a little closer to actual price. I've seen his offerings before and I agree on your estimate for material and labor for the kydex. A good custom sheath should fetch that much.

Maybe I'm in a better situation than the buyer. I get lucky enough to find my own fatwood and I hang out here so I end up getting Ferro rods from BF members for less than a LMF.

Between Kiahs, Ragnar and the woods behind the office I could probably put together a set like that for under $70. Maybe $80 with shipping.

If I were trying to supliment my income with a kit like that, I dont think $30 profit is out of order. But that, like anything else, depends on how many I move. $30 on one is great. If I were to do this on a regular basis, of course the profit margin would probably be lower.

ive seen his stuff on ebay for sometime...while i would'nt buy it (but have been tempted) i dont think he is out of line in his pricing like the OP originally suggested

I could put it all together for $55 shipped including labor. I've actually been meaning to do it for a while but never got around to it. Maybe one day (but not right now, so no emails).

Those were actually about the numers I was getting, nowhere near as high as eighty or ninety.
