It may look like elegance. But it's a BEAST when it comes to what it's capable of.

I love this, if it were thinner stock I'd be all over it....but I see what you wanted out of this one; a mini-beast...and you got there! For my money, M390/CPM-20CV is my favorite steel period. Love the sheath, and how it matches that beautiful micarta...is it home-made by chance?....or vintage? It just has that rich look about it that I don't see in modern natural micartas - great piece!

That old micarta looks nice, and it's a nice design. It must have taken a long time to grind the bevels.

Another nice design! Definitely looks sturdy, but should be a good cutter too.
Thank you. VERY sturdy indeed. But the grind towards the edge is definately thin enough that it's an excellent cutter. I carry one from the same billet as an EDC and have done for around 7 months now. I've yet to be disappointed.

The Micarta is not home made. It might be vintage but I don't know. I bought it in a batch purchase. I actually expected it to be red micarta but I'm really liking the way it came out in the end.

The stock is a little thick. But it came in a good deal to try out M390. I'm currently carrying something from the same stock thickness and since the grind has been thinned out enough you don't really notice it being thick on most tasks. Except for the weigh maybe ;-) But the tapered tang helps with that. It's a pretty solid feeling beast.

I've got some similar knives in thinner stock. But it's a different steel (Niolox at Rockwell 61). You can feel the weight difference when you pick them up side by side and no misstake about it.

Not too bad. But it's no 1095 steel :-)
