I am familiar with the blade markings on the US and commercial Buck M9's, but I was hoping one of the experts here could post the specific markings applied to the following Buck produced M9 bayonets.
1. The Diemaco contract
2. The Abu dabi contract
3. The Australian contract
4. The Marine Corps production
5. The Japan I/II production
Some of these may be difficult/impossible to obtain for my collection, but I would really like to know how they are marked. Any other info, such as dates produced would be interesting also. Thanks in advance to all responders! Thanks, Mitch aka Slufstuff

I am just bumping this back to the top. Can anybody help on this topic? I would appreciate any feedback, even if you only know about some of these variations. Thanks.

Ghostsix, Thanks for the response. Sounds like you have a post Phrobis buyout, Buck marked commercial model. The M9's on my list were all military or foreign commercial contract pieces.

I'll tell you what, as soon as you find out, please let me know. :-)
I can probably help you with some of them.
The Marine proto with the riveted tang was stamped M9-USMC
BUCK/
USA
At least this one is stamped that way.
I am trying, with the help of several Buck collector club members, to put together an end all reference guide for the Bayonet. Right now, the info i am missing is blade stamping and sheath type.

Thanks Joe, I will duly note the USMC info in my notebook. I am not a Buck collector per se, but if you put together such a reference on the M9, I would be interested in getting a copy once you complete it. Thanks for the information and I will let you know if I find out any of the other markings.

The only other thing that I can tell you is that I bought it from Mil. Sales,so it was approved for issue.I remember it being pretty expensive, for Army pay.

Ghostsix, That is interesting that Mil Sales carried these commercially produced M9's. I have heard of them being carried at PX's, but not at Mil Sales. Just curious, what did you have to pay for yours at Mil Sales? Usually, you expect the uniform, field gear, etc. to be reasonably priced at these stores, at least the ones I used in the Air Force, only went into Army run stores on rare occasion.

AS you know both Mil.PX`s merged.I don`t know about AF Mil.Sales, but the Army`s is in Ft.Stocton,TX.They have branches at posts, fts.,and camps. The Naval Services are seperate. It was a few years ago,but I think that I paid almost $100.00.I`d hate to be the pvt. who lost one.Base pay was $68.00 per mo.in `64.O-1 was $220.00.Now you know why the CAPT.goes down with his ship.
