I found a nice looking knife, only thing is that I've never heard of the steel before.
It's a Mercury Pianure Hunting and Survival knife.
Never heard of them or MA5MV steel before.
Can anyone tell me stuff about this?

MA5MV ist just a proprietary name for the 1.4116, which is a well-known steel. It is a basic steel, nothing special about it, used mainly for kitchen knives. With a good heattreatment it is easy to sharpen, gets quite sharp and has great rust resistance.

And 1.4116 is similar in performance to 420HC.

1.4116 is krupp alloy & if the mainstream is similar to the cold steel in my kitchen i certainly do'nt find this stuff interesting. if you give it an angry glance it goes dull.
