As you can see it's a stainless steel with some similarities to aus6a, or more correctly, is in that class of steels. . I've never tried it so I can't comment on it's performance.

And 1.4116 is similar in performance to 420HC.

1.4116 is krupp alloy & if the mainstream is similar to the cold steel in my kitchen i certainly do'nt find this stuff interesting. if you give it an angry glance it goes dull.

1.4116 is W-Nr standard name and X50CrMoV15 is the DIN standard name of the same steel.
Full or manufacturer(Ugine & Alz) name of the steel is Uginox MA5MV.
Basically it's the same steel used in most mainstream German knives, Henckels, Wusthof. Messermeister uses slightly different X55CrMoV15, although in practice it's not that much differnet -
X50CrMoV15 vs. X55CrMoV15 steel composition comparison.
