There was a big stink last year(?) about an announcement at the Adobe website. Adobe claimed their software worked best on PC and recommened a Pentium processor and Windows for best performance.

That's definitely the case as far as the latest version of Photoshop Elements (3.0) is concerned. What a bummer.

That and you can actually run a MacOS X or Linux with a limited account and get things done. With Windows, a large amount of software can only be run with an administrator account even though it really shouldn't need full privileges.

Effectively you are forced to run with an account with complete access to everything. The whole machine can be compromised and the operating system can be destroyed easily.

Been using Macs since 1988. Been in 2 Mac only shops. 1 had 45+ machines. The other had 16+. Each computer was replaced with upgrades periodically. I have owned 4. Each of my graphics buddies has had at least the same amount. In all those years, in thousands of hours and of all those Macs I have seen 3 failures. One was caused by a user who thought he could delete system files. A reload of the software fixed it. 2 were motherboard failures. Dead until replaced. Never a virus or anything like it. All other 'problems' were easily remedied with Norton Disk Doctor and a desktop rebuild.
I have always had all the software I needed (Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop/Microsoft Office Suite and etc.) I don't play games. I get work done. They are the tool with which I have been paying the bills for almost 20 years. Right now I am in a PC shop, on a closed network with no email or internet....big scary viruses might get us....hmmmm. Oh well, I am being paid to work on a PC in the most godawful series of unfortunate events and processes I have ever dealt with. Good thing they are paying me cause it sure ain't getting done for fun.....

It's all good.... :grumpy:

that is a good point i always tell people that are hardcore mac haters or hardcore pc lovers that macs are much more easily esesible(ye i cant spell) and if anything ever goes wrong id say 95% of the time you can retrive your stuff.

a girl i know does graphic desighning for advertisment companies and does some solo side jobs and they all have macs were she works. i fell sorry for you.

I have to use Windows because the programs that are designed to interface and allow off-line editing for thr grandMA and WholeHog lighting consoles are not available for the Mac. I am working right this minute at Apple's WWDC2005 and I'm running the lights on a Windows machine.
