CBS is apparently going to release a new MacGyver TV series. I hope he still uses his SAK and duct tape and paper clips to get out of trouble:confused::cool:

It premieres Friday right before Hawaii 5-0. I'll be working but maybe the network will have it on the net.

When I was very young, I would change into the appropriate clothing and carry the correct toy weapon as I watched Davy Crockett, Roy Rogers, Jim Bowie and so on. I wonder how many people in their second childhoods (people like me :D) will watch MacGyver with a Swiss Army Knife and duct tape in their pockets:confused:

The SAK was one of the few good things about this reboot. Is is just me or was the acting horrible? No chemistry at all, and I felt like I could guess almost word-for-word what each person was going to say.

Never saw the original, but either way I liked this new one and will continue to watch it till it gets cancelled.

I have not seen the new series, but I am pleased to hear that Mac still has his nifty knife. Which model is it?:D

Not 100% sure but it appears to be a basic very common model like the tinker.

Used to be they had different ones in different episodes, depending on the story line. To the average viewer, a SAK is a SAK. It takes a KnifeKnut to even care, and there aren't enough of those for the production personnel to concern themselves with inconsistencies in that department. The original MacGyver used numerous SAK versions, and probably so will his successor.

Right! First episode and we already see (warning! spoiler ahead)
the decent, spotless and mild mannered mac character of old
Get tarnished by a misplaced and reckless relationship with an office co-worker.
Shades of bond perhaps?
Jeez! And to think this newbie mac brags about being super professionally qualified...
Seriously, a Clark Kent type character is what which typifies the likability of Mac of old.

First tool seen in this series,
Shown in retrospect, is a scene of mac the eod guy
with some blacken multitool plier head in hand.
Debut of sak...
At the doorway of a party
Mac is stopped by security for a pat down.
The hand held metal detector sounds,
He then slips into his trouser pocket
And calmly hands over
What appears to be a 2-layer sak
with a "victorinox" shield...

No, it's not just you. It was the typical new age action show with poor acting and writing, and almost amateurish in many ways. I watched about 25 minutes worth before I finished wasting my time on it. There goes 25 minutes of my life I'll never get back.

Pete Thornton went through quite the metamorphosis haha

From what I saw in the trailers, Pete Thornton has changed into an Asian woman - the show needed to be gender balanced and racially inclusive to attract a wider demographic audience. :D

Don't have to watch the new one. My grandson has the complete collection of the originals on DVD. Get a big dose of MacGyver most every time the boy comes over.

Me three. Sometimes rebooted old shows work, mostly they don't. This one is a cobbled up mess done by people who don't really understand the appeal of the original. I hate when cynical TV producers show no respect for their viewers.
