This is a question for Ron Hood -Brian Jones said you were a consultant on Macgyver - I was just interested to know what model(s) SAK Mac used on the show. A nerdy and trivial question I know but I was just looking at some re-runs and got curious.

Thanks

i knew there was a reason i liked that show :) i wish Ron had more time to hang out here but he has alot going on right now :(

Ramirez,

Ron is away for a few days but will be back by the end of this week.

Just FYI.

We'll need to wait for Ron for the definitive answer, but in the meantime... as I recall (having not seen the show in years) it was a Spartan. I don't remember it having lots of tools, no saw or scissors, but I'm pretty sure it did have a corkscrew. Anyway, that's my final answer -- Spartan.

MacGyver was one of my favourite TV shows. Picked up a few ideas from the show through the years.

Brings back memories. :)

I liked that show too!!! Though his character enviroment & antigun views were a bit hard to swallow, it did show a few skills.

And if it ever does a comeback, I see a Leatherman in his future!! ;)

I've heard that T.V. is developing a new "Mac" series with a younger actor to bring the show back.

Well if memory serves me right, it was a Victorianox (only one type of SAK as i recall throught out the series) with a distinct blade called an 'Orange Peeler'. I've seen the same model before, a medium sized SAK with a 1 3/4" main blade, cockscrew, no scissors, awl, bottlecap opeaner(with flat screwdriver) and the 'Orange Peeler' blade. I believe there's only one or two type of victorianox with these arrangement ....

I remember the one with the orange peeler, but I think it was a smaller (executive?) model. I'm pretty sure that there were different ones used in different episodes and not just one throughout.

I think that there were different models used as well. Some times he had a lanyard chain sometimes no sometimes it seemed a thick knife sometimes thin.

Hard to swallow is an understatement. He would have been dead many times if it was reality.

Dean Anderson (MacGyver), an extremely left wing anti-gun Hollywoodite, used whatever the script required, for whatever show they were shooting. There would never be any particular knife that his character would carry, as he solved all the world's problems each show with his little SAK... which was made plain by Anderson, the writers, directors, and producers. They also were very explicit with their message "No one needs a GUN!! See, I can stop all the bad guys in the world with my cute little Swiss Army Knife! Get rid of guns!"

I don't know whether or not Ron Hood was an advisor on the show or not, but I do know for a fact that the producers and writers would confer constantly with a few engineers and bright students out at Cal. Tech, in Pasadena, getting ideas to use on the show about various "technical" shtick MacGyver used.

ANYTHING written in a script can be done on camera. It's all "show biz," boys and girls.

If a new "Mac" show is in development, you can bet the farm it will be anti-guns/anti-self defense. That's Hollywood.

That same Dean Anderson is now General Jack O'Neill on Stargate SG-1 and he goes full-auto with a Bullpup just about every show. He's an actor playing a character and his Gen O'Neill persona likes to shoot things up.

Yep, RAZ, you're correct. That's what the writers write in their scripts for Anderson to do on the show and Anderson has made several million $$$$ doing it. Nevertheless, Anderson is active in the Hollywood "Ban Guns" crowd. Anderson is a hypocritical whore, just like so many of the left wing Mega Millionaire Marxists who use guns in tv/movies, but then call for them to be confiscated from us worker peasants.

Henry Winkler, "the Fonz," owned the show, and was Exec. Producer on "MacGyver." He was given the highest award Handgun Control, Inc. hands out each year as "Anti-Gun Man of the Year," or whatever those communist lovers call it, for his blatant '"get rid of guns" propaganda vomited out on virtually every show.

FWIW. L.W.

Lonewolf is right, as much as the knife community likes seeing knives onscreen, Mac' was a crap show!

he would have been dead on the ground in every episode in the real world.

If you want a good Pro-Gun/Pro-Knife show check out Navy N.C.I.S.!
