The ticks this year are really bad and we have been picking them up pretty regular.

Good for you man. It's always good to get out and spend time with your young uns. Especially while they still young enough to want to filch your best gear. :D

But I gotta say I call photoshop on the last one!

Great pics. Ticks do seem worse this year for some reason.

Is that a Black Mamba? Man, that's a scary looking animal.

I got the Black mamba pic off their facebook page. Nothing funny on my end.

My life would be so much more interesting with some snakes like that crawling around here. People wouldn't question my choice of knives and firearms any longer.

very cool pics. looks like you guys had some fun with that machax. that mamba is just awesome. the beaver is pretty cool too. thanks for sharing

I have a pair of machined titanium, angled tweezers that I use, it allows me to get below the ticks head, under the skin and pull it out with just a small chunk of skin.

Works great when ya gotta pull off an engorged tick...

Great pics! Ticks are bad this year. And man, there is just something about youg boys wanting to hack up anything in fron of them. My youngest is 14 and he will beat the crap out of anything and everything he can. I just sit there and watch. But, I love knowing that he's having fun.
Cheers

I'd rather not see a snake that large in the wild.
We've got lions and tigers. And to the WSW there's some bears. And some wolverines. Plenty of dangerous creatures, but none nearly as interesting as a 20' long black snake!

And the ticks are bad here in Michigan this year too. Must be the year of the tick.

I'm not usually scared of snakes, but I find that pic a horror!
No thanks. I'l be staying as far away from South Africa as possible!

Great pics !!! Hey ya'll got Wal-marts round where you lives ??? You probably know but in the camping section of their store you can buy a spray called " Permethrin " It ain't for skin but clothing and it will keep the ticks off, it repels and kills them, I spray it on my cap or hat and NO mosquitoes !!! It last a long time after you spray it on your clothes !!! Shoes too !!! It's the best stuff I've found !!! Make sure your boys won't react to it, again it's for clothes and ya'll know ticks can cause some serious illness !!!! Very serious !!!! I hear most people are saying ticks are extra bad this year because of a mild winter, who knows for sure !!! In Texas these critters are bad every year !!!!

All the med sites say to apply gentle pulling until the tick dislodges its own head.
40% Deet will keep 'em at bay to some extent. I also keep one of these in just about all my kits...

I hear Wolverines aren't so tough if you throw some Buckeyes at them.
