Machete and new arrival photos

Damn nice group of Fiddlebacks man! The 12 has less "machete wobble" also because the blade is slightly thicker...or at least was on the early ones. I'm getting older and don't bother making many trails anymore..plus I try not to scare off the wildlife when I am out, so these days the Camp Knife has taken over the role my 12" had. It has no machete wobble either :)

How do you like that camp knife? There was one with osage orange a few weeks ago that I really wanted to snag but couldn't. They look gorgeous. The 12 did seem a little thicker than the 16, but I didn't have my caliper on me and was wondering at the time if my mind was playing tricks from the size differences. The 14, 16 and 18 seem to have that same ridgid quality to the steel as well. I used the 18 to slice a dead epiphyte that was hanging on my back porch last weekend and it sliced through pretty cleanly considering how light and dry the plant was.

You are correct sir. Arete it is. The handle ergonomics are outstanding in every way. :)

Mark

The handle is amazing! My friend liked it so much that I sold it to him so that he could have a quality bushcraft knife. He doesn't frequent the forums but I do so I knew I could get another Arete someday. The handles were pretty unique too. The maple had several light outlines of grain that I have not seen on many of his maple handles on here.

The Camp Knife is fantastic! It was a grail and well worth the wait. It feels amazing in hand, and has superb balance. Made quick work of turning a 3 lb chuck roast, a half dozen potatoes, two small bunches of carrots, a couple of large onions, and two cartons of baby bellas into a nice pot of stew too :)

Yeah, as far as I know the 12 is 0.120" so close to 1/8 thick, and the others are 0.090 and closer to 3/32 thick.

You are not helping! ;) I'm trying to resist the Camp knife and was barely able to resist the last one Andy posted...

Hey, I am trying to help you get past that little resistance problem you're having :D

I already have an O1 Bushfinger in transit this week, so it will have to wait...

If he posts one with natural canvas, burlap or a wood I like I might have a problem though.. :o

The Landcruiser need new shocks and winter tires so I hope Andy makes lots of other things...

It will be my second Bushfinger and it will nicely complement my S35VN one :D

You have an S35V one?!! Oh just for that I hope he makes camp knives in every color you like! :p

As far as I know it is the only one:D He's made a Hunter (gorgeous one btw) and 2 Recluses (almost bought one of them) in S35VN as well.

Kind of miss patina though, but O1 and sea kayaks don't mix too well..

SWEET!! Yeah, I finally landed one of the 154CM Ladyfingers in a trade, that I had been wanting for a long time for the corrosion resistance around salt water, but I have developed a "thing" for S35VN lately :)

No need to wallow in S35VN envy. Just send you stainless Ladyfinger and gorgeous Camp knife to Norway and I'll send you some S35VN and an O1 Ladyfinger :p

Ya know...I'm thinking my "thing" for the camp knife is stronger than my "thing" for the S35VN :D
