This site needs a dedicated Machete Category......

Would anyone have any knowledge of a Machete manufacturer by the name of "Laurec" possibly French. I have two machete's, one I found in 1971, the other more recently. 14" Blade, heavy duty, Beech hardwood handles, possibly made for combat by the looks of them, I think they were sold as military surplus in the 50's or 60's. One of these has "Laurec" stamped on the blade near the handle. I think they were called Coup-Coup machete??
Any and all thoughts are welcome.

just bought one from a local junk store. Unmarked in a bucket full of ww2 bayonets. No price with scabbard. 20$ ,yeah on me, I think?

Nice catch! Does it have any marking's name on the blade?
Can'y beat that for 20$. I've seen em on e-bay for 200$.

no markings on blade but stampted very faintly on back of sheath FRANCE. That was the only clue to steer me in the right direction. 200.00! wow i could be a hundredaire.
