  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Machete - exercise in futility

I can't say I know what the steel is but in his first post it's stamped "A2" on the right side.

Dan,

I third the motion: it looks like a dandy wedding cake knife. Anyone getting married before March 29, 2008? :D

How many hours do you have in this, Dan? Awesome work as usual.

Thanks for the pics - when I first saw it, the blade reminded me of some speciallized japanese kitchen cutlery, and it looks like it fits that job fine. I'd ask for a head-to-head test vs. Moby Whale, but that would take time away from your bush knife grinding! :D

Very cool. I really like it. How did you heat treat it? I thought machetes were left soft.

relatively soft, yes.

You want impact strength above all. 5160 would be a better choice probably...but I don't ever stock it in that thickness. This piece of A2 was just layin' around. :D

I dunno the bread test is nice, but I still wanna see a Zombie test! :D

Seriously though, that is obscenely cool.
