Hi guys & gals. Well I just had a wooden handle on a Linder Machete fail on me. It was a one piece handle and ended up cracking on the bottom which loosened everything up. I have removed the handle to see how much tang I have to work with if I were to replace the handle. I think I'll give it a shot myself as it isn't worth the $$$ to have a pro do it. Plus it could turn out to be a fun project. Here is a thread with some pics.

Any suggestions as to how to fix the handle? I have had one suggestion that suggested that I cut off the existing stick tang and cut out a new one so that it will have a tang that extends through the entire handle. This will shorten the blade but at least the tang would be longer.

I was trying to carve out a piece of Delrin plastic so that I could slip the tang in and pin it similar to how it was originally done. But its slow going. Anyway, any and all help is much appreciated. Thanks. :)

I would keep the tang as it is and use a drill press or a Dremel tool with the router attachment to mortise out the slot for the tang using an appropriate bit. Take half the depth off each side. Once it is mounted you will grind/sand off the pins (I would use Corby bolts and epoxy for security) as you shape the handle.
