Machete sheath

Hey guys. I'm going to try to make simple pouch style sheath for an 18" bush machete but I'm completely new to sheath making. I'm not quite sure what I need in the ways of supplies for this project though I do have the basic supplies needed for knifemaking. Can anybody help me with a simple list of essential supplies and equipment? Thanks.

I would think:

Thread
Needles
Awl
Glue
Leather Stain
Conditioner

to start, but I'm no expert.
