Machete thread!

My dad's "Jimmy Hoffa Machete" that he trash picked. Unknown make or model.

Here's a shot of the patina I formed with my own technique.

Just put an order in for a Imacasa 18" Pata de Cuche. I know I'll have to put an edge on it when I get it, but I can't wait.
I'm just wondering if I shouldn't have ordered a slightly larger one. We'll see, if I do they're cheap enough.
It will mostly be used for brush and kudzu on my hill side.

I love these machete threads. :)

Funny thing actually, I have a 22inch pata de cuche coming in today... Should be here by now! Damned UPS truck.
I have a Rozador and some bolos with it too.

If I don't get too carried away; I'll post some pics!

I absolutely love the rozador pattern. VERY substantial width at the front end so it chops like crazy! I wouldn't worry about inducing a patina--it'll probably have a clear lacquer coat on it. Unless you plan on stripping the whole thing and inducing a patina (I don't recommend it) then your best option is to just get out and use it. The coating will wear off eventually and a patina will develop whether you like it or not! :p

Funny, the first machete I ever got was a gift from a friend that brought it back from belize. It's a 22" Imacasa colima. I must say that even as dull as a butter knife it still sails through 2 inch thick saplings. Awesome blade. It rides in my trunk these days. I've been thinking about modding it. I like it a lot but it's just too big for my needs which is backpacking. Thinking of cutting it down to a 14 incher or so.
