Looking for something to clear smaller brush, kindling, overall yard stuff, but would like to have a little chopping power out in the woods too. Right now I am just working with one of those gerber machetes with the sawback. Its been great for the price, just about to lose the handle:eek: What do you guys get into as far as machetes? Don't mind paying for quality, but I am on a bit of a budget here.

If you're on a budget, a 12 inch Ontario might be something to consider.

I'm also looking for an allrounder and I can't make up my mind. I want to use it for machete work, but also for wood. So I don't know if I should pick a KaBar Cutlass, a 12 inch Ontario or a Becker BK9. Large bowies and small machetes - I don't know what's right for me.

I'm with ya on not being able to make up your mind. I don't know if I should go with a large knife or small machete. But I know I want something front heavy, my current one has the convenience of a sawblade on the back, but I want something I can chop with and abuse...

i like my woodsmans pal for brush clearing, the hook is underappreciated for clearing fence rows, and it is half axe half machete.

The Ontario already mentioned is always a good choice , and affordable. I was also going to mention Condor as well. I got to play with a bunch more of their stuff at SHOT and they have some nice heavier bladed stuff, and the new ones coming out soon have more carbon steel options. Plus, the Golok from them will be out soon too.
